if it is really a designation, its a code name for 1 person.
if youve read the books --like a real "bond fan since the 80's" youd see its the same man because he has memories that carry over from story to story

you cant really debate bond off the movies...

as for him being black, i can easily see him being black from the stories...i just dont want it to look like a hollywood move

I agree Daniel Craig was already a step in a new (the wrong) direction looks-wise as far as continuity goes. However, the point is: James Bond is not just a code name. He's supposed to be the same person in every movie, as ridiculous as that may seem. If he were just a code name, you'd be right and a black Bond would be due. But it's not. So a black 'Bond' would have to be a black 00 agent who is not James Bond. But then, what would be the point? Would we need a spinoff for every race and every sort of physical feature? Of course not.

Goldeneye's story can coexist with Skyfall,Tomorrow never dies and The World is not Enough. It's the same person.

I don't see how people can't just wrap their heads around the fact that it's the same guy played by different actors..is it really that difficult? Daniel Craig's Bond is the first break in the chain but Sean Connery through Pierce Brosnan all are the same guy with the same memories and same history. There are links throughout the series that makes it obvious

By "new Bond" I mean he's a start over..he's not a new guy with a codename..but as a reboot, his history is now being written as opposed to something that's already established

I'm not about making him black for the sake of making him black on some reparations or affirmative action..it should be about the actor and if he fits the role and he just so happens to be black, great, I'm all for it, especially as a black man and as a huge Bond fan. BUT, don't do it just to do it. If we are going off of the literary Bond, then being white is huge part of who he is since he's almost a tad racist, but obviously movie Bond isn't hand in hand with literary Bond so while his race isn't integral to the character, I don't want it to be there just to be there. Craig is going to do 2 or 3 more (someone correct me if I'm wrong) so by the time that comes up, especially with them not taking 2 years between movies like they used to and sometimes it's a long wait, Idris Elba will possibly be too old at that point to do it. Love the dude but I don't want to see a 50 year old Idris being Bond

It's not "changing" the race of anything ...it's just being real with your audience, I'm sure whites would like to see a black bond too it would be interesting, Bond can go in new directions like the ghettos of London or smash to insanely beautiful white woman villain and save the day...

Why can't this be reality? It's 2014....c'mon under the premise of the character it should've BEEN happened.
