Gleyber isn't coming back.

But Brian Cashman is so goddamn unlikable. How the hell do you work in New York City and be so bad at sidestepping these loaded questions? You'd think the Yankees would have an army of PR specialists to train these guys on how to deal with the media.

Dude is just a dikkhead with ultimate job security

Alec Bohm is a good player.

I'm not sure it makes sense for the Yankees to trade for him unless Juan Soto returns.

With Soto, the team remains a contender and Bohm offers the lineup more consistency with his contact ability and good defense.

Without Soto, it's going to be rough and Bohm won't move the needle.

Also, Bohm is a free agent in two years, when he's 30 years old. You're not going to re-sign him.

And in 2 years, Spencer Jones will be 25. God help you if you trade Jones, fail to win the world series, then have to endure 10 years of a left-handed power bat that you developed playing in Philadelphia.

Think he'll get to finish the season or will they let Ausmus take over?
My guess is they let him finish.
The Yankees don't really fire guys midseason. Not since like...the 1980s.

Unless you're a trainer and a bunch of guys pull hamstrings or something. I think one trainer got fired mid season a while back.

I'm gonna be completely honest, if Brian Cashman wasn't the guy making the decisions, I would give Soto a take-it-or-leave it offer

Bryce Harper went to a division rival, and the Nats still won the WS the next year

The Astros Cole and Correa walk in their primes, and won the WS

The Dodgers lost Manny Machado, Corey Seager, a proven playoff performer, and we saw what happened

All of this was within the last five years. They were able to still build great rosters

As we saw when Cano left, Cashman was clueless as to what to do, panicked and signed Ellsbury, and the next 3 years were some of the most uninspired Yankee baseball I've ever seen. So Cashman and Co have no choice but to wait it out and give out the blank check
