So I decided to go down the rabbit hole and check out IKF’s hitting numbers on the year. He’s hitting .294 to Volpe’s .209 and has a .354 OBP to Volpe’s .310 with 15 strikeouts in 23 games to Volpe’s 27 strikeouts in 24 games. This guy turned out to be a worse hitter than the stopgap they willingly took on 2 years and $50 million of Josh Donaldson to get so they could stall for him

Just 2 weak grounders to 2nd base last inning and it would’ve been 5-1 right now. Note Anthony gallo striking out again among that bunch. There’s I think 3 guys with an OBP below .270 in this lineup. Rice, Judge, and Goldschmidt can’t carry them all year.
