Got my Interim secret clearance. About to set up my interview wit the investigator this week. Trying to stay at my job until I get my full secret. Then im bouncing or hittin up my contractor for more $$ and a cybersec roles:ufdup:
Congrats man, great first step.
A little advice about contracting, treat everyone well, regardless of how they treat you or what they can do for you.
Contracts get switched, ended, and start anew every 3 years, the person you shyt on today might be a team lead of program manager tomorrow.
Keep grinding and increasing your skill level and work with other blacks, there is usually a solid black contracting group on every dod/ govt installation, as well as civilian. You can spot the crabs and the white lovers easily, but connect and look out for your people and you'd be shocked how well they look out for you.

If you want to move into cyber sec, shoot me a dm and I have a few contacts that I'll forward you to if I can.

Congrats and welcome to the game.

You should ask for a job.
I mean the certs are nice, but you won't be making bank without experience, unless you know someone.
At this point, you get the certs, just look for work and actual experience.
The best bet for salary is to look up similar jobs on indeed or linkedin and see what the going rate is
I’m looking for entry level job like help desk should I apply or wait until I have more than one cert

Are you going to wait for this exam or try for the old exam?

i think im gonna try to do icnd1 by thanksgiving , and icnd2 by end of january . The new cert guide, by the Table of Contents, it dont look TOO much different . but I dont want to wait until the other publications drop. I dont like Wendell Odom books

I was going to try for the icnd1 & icnd2 before February. I'm going to wait until I see if I pass the Security+ next month. I'm to check this book out to see what's new. The second volume(624pages) doesn't come out until Jan 2020, but it's not as big as the first volume (1095pages). Thanks for the drop tho.

Interview for a senior Devops role scheduled to start in a hour and a half, I’m super nervous that these Cacs may try to pick me apart. Blessed to already have a job lined up though, so it’s basically to have an additional option to pick from
:whew:.

The offer I have is more of a cloud engineer/automation and this is straight Devops...wish me luck brehs

How did it go?:lupe:

Conversation and interview went well, but I did stumble over some Jenkins related questioning and they felt that I wouldn’t quite have the exp for a principal Devops role but would be considered for the mid level Devops engineer ones which they had available..still hadn’t heard back so I’m going to proceed with the original SysOps role that I had already accepted. I’m glad that I did my due diligence, more info gathering and interview practice never hurt
