Maybe a little easier running unbuntu with the GUI rather than from the command line but make sure you got at least 10gigs memory free you can spare for the lab. Unbuntu server is a problem and Debian is a little harder to use than unbuntu. If your money straight you can probably pick up a few chesp laptops at Staples for under 200 and throw Linux on them and get a cheap switch from Amazon for under 25 shipped.

I'm still working on mine but unbuntu server, I can copy and paste to the command line from the host computer.

Also use Twitter and follow that Brian little dude and follow this other dude named David bothal. He has a gns3 course for sale forn40 bucks but it's not really newbie friendly.

If any other you nrehs wanna group chat so we can all learn send me a pm.
I recommend you have a system with 16 gigs minmum. You can get by with less but once you start doing things that require you to have a server running and 2-3 clients its starts to really push the system.

I don't know how far along you are but if you have a decent PC you can run VirtualBox, Hyper-V, or VMWare Workstation and start setting up a lab. @Scott Larock made a previous post about setting up a networking lab using VirtualBox you might want to check out.
Thanks, I am going to need to upgrade I'm rockin a 4th gen i3 cpu with 8 gigs on a desktop.:mjcry: I do have a laptop that is an i5 and 12 gigs ram but, I come up short on hard disk space.

Is everything you do on a separate network? Meaning do you isolate traffic from your lab evionrnment and your home network? What are you using for a router? I take it you said buy cheap laptop cuz Linux can handle the hardware and you can run another node and not worry about if your computer can handle the extra resources? Thanks for the resources I'll look into them. Yeah, I down for a group chat.

Going back to school might be a waste of time. I'd look into getting an Asssociate level cloud cert in the next couple months and try and get a job with that. If you're struggling there then maybe look into going back. Also with your associates and if you can get a few certs (A+, Sec+) you can apply to this Amazon apprentice program:

What is your current role? What do you have experience in? What certs do you have?

For the brehs that obtained the aws associate cert

What was the first cloud job you obtained and how was the interview like?

Is there like a junior cloud engineer role?

I have a year and a half experience so far. I'm on studying with cloud guru, youtube, and the udemy questions. I'm about to get into the VPC section.

I'm also starting with linux as well

Hopefully I'll be eating big by this time next year:wow:

Got it awhile ago. Have three of them now. With the first one I got a few job offers but once I got the developer cert I got a ton of interviews and a handful of good offers. Working as a Cloud Engineer right now.

Question, once you got the developer, did they ask you to know how to code? I got the AWS SA and the AWS Security but I got moved to another part of the business. I want to learn devops but It would be easier for me to master aws devops instead of learning Jenkins, kubernetes" etc.
