One thing i have learned. If a company REALLY wants you around, they will pay you like they want you around. Or promote you, or give you stock options. Something other than words. Years ago i stayed way too long at a job hearing that same old thing with no promotions. learned my lesson though.Supervisor told me she need me to stick around for 3 years
She already sitting close to 100k, i ain't tryna be held back from that

Just got placed on a IT security audit project. I don't know what to expect, but excited for the challenge.

Definitely do this! Also use the phrases "Defense in depth" and "due diligence" for good measure.Bring up the CIA triad in one of your meetings to sound smart.

They know they got to
Yeah i know. Just gonna hang around for a year or so to get back up on everythingBreh, unless it's for a strategic reason, don't even attempt to climb the corporate ladder. Be a contractor for a few years and focus on getting good experience. Then go back into a FT role with a 150k salary, benefits, and a signing bonus.
How do you all decide on which Certs to pursue?
I`m looking mainly on Cloud, Business Intelligence,Security stuff and its somewhat overwhelming.
I want to create a plan of action, and knock some stuff out since my masters touches on some of this stuff so it will be fresh in my head.
As mentioned before I want to eventually be a Solution Architect and I`d be transitioning from being a BA. Sales/Solution Engineering looks like the path I may want to take because I think going the Sys Admin to Sys Engineer would be a step backwards for what I have done so far, unless I can by pass Sys Admin being that I have IT experience and would have a Masters + Certs.
What is a realistic goal for Certs per yr to look at? I`m also going to have to brush up my programming skills since that sets people apart, so trying to figure out the best technology stack to focus on.
Look at the jobs you want and see what certs they are asking for. Then look at the ones you have and see which compliment you best or will allow you yo get into those roles. Certs will help for the roles you are seeking. However once your in and get good, build a network, etc, then you will be good to go. oh and skip sysadmin. quicker you get into a role that makes the company money as opposed to being seen as a cost center the better for your career.
Honestly the hardest experience and skills to acquire is the business stuff and being able to talk and present to business users. You have the hard part done!Im in a huge multinational consulting company right now, so im thinking that when i get the certs and finish my masters i could maybe move into a consulting role or just another project but in the architect role (we have sort of a junior architect role called solution specialist 1 and 2). Being that Im a BA, designing solutions and presenting them to the business users is easy, its just "architects" are seen as being more "technical". Im am extreamly tech savy but of course i dont have 20yrs experience like these other cats.

I speak to recruiters regularly who tell me how difficult it is to find that combination. they are literally throwing money at people with that skillset.Lol yea, most technical cats are not socialable at all. I worked in sales selling computers at best buy and in wireless for a few yrs in college so thats where i learned to be anle to "understand business needs" and "present technical solutions to non technical stakeholders". The lack of certs have been my weakpoint since certs and yrs experience are what get you the interviews.
