FYI: Don't go the consultant route if you want your job to turn into getting your English degree. Like 30% of your job is technical, 20% client relationship building, and 50% report writing. shyt is a grind. I'm thinking of going back to an internal IT position, but staying in information security. I will say however it is a career shortcut to management, especially if you get your CISSP + one other mid-level to top level technical cert (mines is a RHCE)

I was gonna use career academy from groupon like i did for my CompTIAs but they don't have interactive labs/sims.

Im about to check out that site tho

Yeah thats what sold me on it too was the labs....check it out for a month if you dont want to go the full year subscription...only thing is you wont be able to download the videos if you want to watch offline if you go the monthly route

To be fair MSCEs are a dime a dozen, and IT on the WIndows side is all about professional networking.

I believe it took me 6 weeks of self study to pass both tests. Then again, this was back in 2006, but I can't imagine the common body of knowledge has changed that much
Did you use one of the comptia books and do practice exams? right now i'm looking at Professor Messer's videos to get an idea of the material and decide if I want to go all in.
