Gonna re do my resume this weekend so I can easily add this stuff I`m learning in school to my technical skills. I already had a solid resume it's just formatted like a Non IT resume, which I assume makes it easy to toss out.
Also how is being a student looked post Undergrad? Should I put that I am currently in a Masters Program on my resume (and maybe courses too?) or just leave it off and focus on skills, work experience, and just list my Bachelors?

They do from what's been described. It's just kinda tough to leave my current company just due to the sheer size and number of internal opportunities available here (Fortune 10)

Damn, these are both full time gigs they offered too. Both on the west coast though. But I'd love to be at $120-150k before 30. That's my goal. I'm 26 now.

If you wanna get the big bucks, contract for the next four years. You'll get a lot of experience really fast (plus you'll make more).

I'm interest in how this turns out.

Learn how to install AD, manage objects, migrate domains, create trusts, master GPOs, deploy AD FS, AD FS, learn how AD and DNS works, etc. If you're focused in about 6-12 months you'll have your MCSE and enough hands on knowledge/experience to start getting jobs that pay $55-65/hr (assuming you have at least 5 years experience)
I have a powerful system, but how would I go about studying this stuff? I've got VMWare, Windows Server 2012, and Exchange Server 2013. But I still feel directionless.

Now buy/download the MCSE 2012: Server Infrastructure books and start studying. As you go through the books you'll learn how to install Windows, learn all about the OS and its features, and learn how to install, administer, and troubleshoot Active Directory.

By the time you're finished (assuming you made labs for everything) you'll have enough knowledge to get a sys admin job.

You can also get the books covering SCCM and Exchange and setup labs for those as well. With an AD, Exchange, and SCCM lab you'll be coasting.

FYI SCCM dudes make bank.

Question guys

I'm doing a introduction to Linux course this semester at my college and I'm wondering if I should get the Comptia Linux+ cert, since the class is taught with the intention of getting the cert, or should I just save my money?

I know linux is used in the networking aspect, and I want to do something in networking. I don't if the Linux cert is worth it, since it wasn't mentioned in this thread.

After you pass they send you a certificate in the mail. You can put it in a frame and mount it.

FYI nobody's gonna care about your certs breh :mjlol:

I would get it just to put on your resume. The downside is Linux certs don't carry as much weight as Microsofts/Cisco. Only one I know that will really help is the RHCE( Google RHCE salary ).

I will add(I have my RHCSA), the Red Hat certifications are all practical(i.e. they give you a bunch of tasks to do on a live machine, then it gets graded), you can't pass by rote memory so they have a little more substance than the Comptia Linux cert which is multiple choice based last I knew

Forgot to add, that if you are taking a course geared toward the cert, might as well take it while it's fresh in your head. Nothing worse than putting off a cert and coming back months later just to re-study all over again. That's what happen with my ITIL cert and I barely passed it. Lol

I will also put out here just in case it's not In the thread, don't invest time/money into any programming certs.lol

I thought programming was big though ?? How would you get into programming without the certs? College the only route?

Teach yourself a language and start going for entry level jobs.

speaking of languages I got an advanced program from Pimsleur approach for Haitian creole i been procrastinating on. Ill master that and start learning Swahili also for my Nairobe connects when I copy your business idea instead of being creative myself :blessed:

How difficult was the RHCSA?

how long did it take you to get that cert?
