So i've noticed I only get hit ups from recruiters and follow ups from companies due to my work experience . Basically I got my resume starting in 2010 when i was in HS and got my A+ and learned network cabling.

2010 - 2011 Computer Repair
2011 - 2012 Network Cabling Technician
2014 - 2017 Help Desk Support
2017 - 2020 Network Support Technician

but I have 0 certs to go with that history . I was starting from the bottom but A+ but the shyt is boring and i already know most of this . I'm skipping all of that and going straight into AWS/Azure certs

Is this a good idea skipping the basics and jumping straight to the $ ? I don't even think i wanna do CCNA/networking type shyt anymore

Dont Skip networking, linux and a programming language. You'll need that foundation and they'll ask about it in every cloud interview you get.

GCP Security done, now focusing on mastering terraform. I will spend the next month messing with GKE/EKS with Terraform in a virtual lab then go from there. We will see what the future holds.
I am pretty much done with certs once I get terraform done. Only see myself learning azure if I get a job with Microsoft.

We will see what the future holds, once I get this retention bonus, I am out.

Hey I'm tryna break into Cybersecurity. I got my sec+ cert recently. I don't have any prior IT work, but I do have a physical home lab, and virtual home lab set up. I'm really tryna get into a remote Security Analyst position. any advice?

At my job, you will need to know linux and networking. So you can get started with linux plus and network plus. These next two certs should really help.

Maybe you can learn an endpoint platform, a firewall or an ips platform or maybe qualys.

That last week of work when you about to leave a job feels like the last days before summer vacation in HS

i aint been doing shyt and dont plan on it :blessed: just counting down the days. I made sure everything was documented and ready to go last week

I did that August 2020 . Whole job didnt know shyt . I just calmly deleted all my shyt , usb drive'd all my shyt , threw away all my notes , etc. Next thing they know, they never seen or heard from me again.

These mfs was going to my grandpa house to beg for me bacc. But they was older Trump folks (nicest ppl in the world but only to ME cuz i worked with them) and I wasnt having that in 2020.

I wonder how they are dealing with shyt now being that I ran the whole network

So I just started my new job up here in DFW . It's at a warehouse where they repair smartphones and I support the people on the production floor with the network, apps, Windows, etc. About 300-400 users.

I've never been in a job this big . This shyt chill asf. 2 brehs spent the whole damn day at their desk debating Vince Carter vs Devin Booker lol . The breh that works with me is from NC and went to a HBCU out there. He said he gonna give me the "nikka talk" soon lol

Soooooo many bytches at this job , Imma just keep my mouth shut . The latinas are top notch (not even lying) , the black women are mostly African and Ethiopian. I got the damn security lady telling me out the blue "Now , you know there's a lot of women working here...." . I'm like "yeah I see that, sheesh!"

Great 1st day of work! All I did was walk around and see which computers running Tableau are up to date with Windows. Tomorrow I will be imaging some Macs .

Damn I hope it stays this chill

yes nothing wrong with skipping all the basic shyt if you have experience although I think I would recommend getting sec+ though a lot of govt jobs require it

Passed the Sec+ today :whew:

Shooting for the CCNA next. Want to complete it before November

Got my first Tech related job about a month after this post. Between the new job, getting over a break-up and me bullshytin, I just passed the CCNA yesterday.

Over the next four months, I'll be learning Windows Server, PowerShell and SQL skills. About to quit my current job and relocate to a somewhere with a better job market

security clearances really only look at your last 7 years however for things like felonies they make look at overall. you should apply anyways and it's really up to the adjudicators. just be honest (hiding shyt makes things worse). and right now may be the best time to do it because a lot of these clearance places just hired new adjudicators that probably don't really know what they're doing or maybe a little green idk but a juvenile record may not straight up prevent you from anything
