For people who aren't the best at studying, the material isn't hard but it's just not that interesting, how did yall power through?? I'm trying to envision the bag and lifestyle I want later through getting these certs but for now, it's a struggle.

If thats not enough motivation then nothing will help you

@Boxing&Jesus What cert are you studying for?

I'm terrible at studying too. The only cert I have is A+. I've started and stopped studying for Net+ and\or CCENT like 6 times over the years. I've learned the basics and I've re-done my home network with VLANs (multiple times). There are gaps in my knowledge, but I know enough to get by.

Personally, for the most part, I find reading the material to be boring and prefer videos. If one study source is boring then try another. Not all of these instructors are good at their jobs.

Pettiness and wanting to stunt on my haters mostly.
:unimpressed:

I'm only in the IT field to make as much money as possible.

Have a thorough plan of how you plan to study and just execute.
I've been using the same template for years because I know what works well for me. It's just the process I have to go through, for me it's like being in the gym. It's only a matter of time.
I also didn't take a single cert for no reason, I had a plan always and I hate wasting time so I gotta get to it ASAP.

Security + I'm halfway through the exam objectives but I took some time off its a chore sometimes deadass. Yea I have Mike Meyers book and use prof messar video's I saw some people online saying they pass by just looking at the videos idk how that's possible.

Appreciate the tips, yea I try to use both them and some flash cards good way to switch it up when I'm feeling uninterested. Are you going to continue with other certs?

Motivation and lack of trust in companies :francis: I lucked out and started out as a Senior with zero experience. At any moment I could have gotten dropped so I wanted to make sure I can bounce back up.

Not sure what your background is, if you're in school or self taught but I'm a mix of both and the only way I've managed to get as far as I have is with a roadmap. It helped give me confidence when is really all you need to get hired.

go to roadmap.sh and hopefully you're interesting in one of those roles.

I'll be at the one year mark at the end of this month in this Project Manager role at a new company for me. It's a specialized software company that does on-prem and SaaS solutions. Just had my performance review today, got a 5% bonus and 5% salary increase.

I started out doing 50% IT deployment PM related tasks (JIRA triaging, scheduling deployments, coordinating hosted environment maintenance) and 50% project management tasks (proposals, coordinating with customers on open issues, managing schedules, keeping tracking of project milestones, reports to upper management)

In February management wanted me to chose between IT and PM, I chose PM. Since then they got me managing 6-7 projects, which seems like a lot. The company is hurting for talent...like many others right now. We've had a lot of people leaving lately, which leaves the remaining projects to us.

I'm sticking it out for now because I'm gaining invaluable experience and it's 95% remote. I go onsite to a local customer meeting once a month, besides that it's all Teams.

For any product owners/product managers in here do you necessarily need a technical degree to get into the role??

Brehs the BIG BOY bag has been dropped :wow:I got the netsec engineer role. Apparently I killed the interviews, recruiter said from the interview feedback I was so far above everyone else there was no competition. :ohhh:. This opportunity is huge because the team is new and they are missing soooo much automation/cloud skills that I can immediately make an impact and level up even more in probably another yr.

I start in mid June going to put in my 2 weeks and enjoy all these weeks off :blessed:. Already had a trip planned to DR, but the rest of the weeks I honestly dont know wtf imma do

Feels good to set a goal and accomplish it :mjcry:

Total TC ~ $760
Yearly ~ $330
