Yeah.. I know LA got bought out by ACG a while back but wasn't sure if they merged their content yet.

LA always had better content and better content creators.

The content has merged as well. I won a free year of acg and I had LA as well. Pretty much the same.

Seriously considering buying the noise-canceling headset that construction workers use. I cannot read and understand code with distractions. Don’t know how you open office brehs did it pre-COVID

Hey guys, I got cleared by the VA that they will pay for my HR degree. I have an AA in Sociology (I know, keep your jokes to yourself), and I was wondering did anyone do the aPHR certification test? Syracuse gave about 200 vets a free class and will pay for our test. Also, is there any other certifications that I should look into on the lower level?

I was afraid of this answer, are you currently remote? Cloud Engineer sounds like it can be a remote gig? I was going to focus on security but I'm having second thoughts. Might just focus on networking or systems (Linux) or just go all in on the cloud.
Cybersecurity is a shyt show at most companies. And the reason the turnover rate is probably 70% in most IT Security Departments.

I've been in the cybersecurity field since like 2013 and it's gotten progressively worse each year. You're basically given a water gun and told to fend off an invading army. Needless to say you don't stand a chance. Especially with the idiots in your own organization making things easy for cyber criminals.

Anybody who says this is a decent field needs their head examined. Run don't walk away from this trainwreck.

Damn :lolbron:

This why I love consulting im in and out and if they call me its cause they know they gotta spend

My last perm position was so understaffed it was insane I constantly had people double booking me for meetings and almost all my budgetgproposals were rejected (i did spend about 400k more than any other department :lolbron:)but this is just growing pains of the industry, as you mentioned nobody really gets it yet. Apart from regulatory fines the damage done from breaches is often not tangible.. Reputation damage dont seem that bad till it happens

I was once in a stalemate with board of directors about how we were spending money unnecessarily... My IT director was like
'Thats OK we wont be the ones getting interviewed on the news when this goes south :ld:'

:whew: That project was approved.

Need advice.........

I got scammed recently and no longer have any money to my name so I can't take the Security+ exam

Should I just forsake trying to get a cyber sec job and look into studying cloud computing instead? I'm just about ready to kill myself at this point, making money is not in the cards for me. I can't believe after everything I've done I'm still going to be living a life of poverty lol life is funny.

Port numbers and connectors are killin me but I have taken notes yet just watching videos. Tempted to schedule the first part of the A+ for next month just to light a fire under my ass lol. I'll probably wait under the end of October to make sure I know, I know. Then try to smash Core 2 before the year is over. I wanna get it al done before my financial aid finally kicks back in next semester. Ground level and being old isn't easy. Stay the course my people.

This is sad I was looking forward to security job. Thanks for the insight I guess my expectations vs reality about IT Security was skewed.

Ever since Yahoo was breached and didn’t let their users know until it was time for them to be sold. Let’s me know how these companies operate. It would be safe to say that more companies suffer breaches or hacks than they report?

These companies are getting the crap beat out of them by hackers. Yet all they seem capable of doing is having a few meetings about it after the fact. Then lie and cover up the root cause for the breach.

If it wasn't for the money I would've left the field a long time ago. But if all you care about is making lots of money. You can easily finesse these companies into paying 6 figure salaries. But you'll be setup to fail by idiots running the show at these companies.

Not to put you off :whoa:I still love what I do. There have been months where I had to do very little and would be at work downloading mixtapes and watching YouTube but when the stress hits :damn:

i think with any IT job its gonna be you vs the business 'needs' (meaning lets save all our money)

Like I said before its growing pains of the cyber boom but I been cashing the fukk out :win:

How's the job market in NYC?
I havent been actively looking since i been at my recent gig but i been getting hit up by recruiters on LinkedIn every week pretty much since starting (this was oct). During covid shyt seemed like it picked up. But thats probably because of my skillset/title

idk if others have seen different but shyt looks good to me :yeshrug:
