I’m gonna learn my way around Kali, and figure my way around a SIEM. What’s the preferred one to use in the industry?
Splunk but you have other ones like QRadar, Logrythm, Exabeam, etc also popular that are more smart SIEMs. Basically you are going to want to learn how to parse the data going into the SIEM and how to correlate that data with other data sources. Just note that people use SIEMs for many different things. Also, it is helpful to have knowledge about the source of the logs. For example if you are sending Windows Security logs it is helpful for you to know how that works at the source and what you are looking at.

How you have a MS working retail brother? Why not apply for more help desk postions

because it hasn't been working and insanity is doing the same thing with no results

gotta pay bills bro

just copped a new laptop for $180 yesterday that I am going to use strictly for setting up virtual environments. I am studying for the Sec + now, watched all Messer vids and am going through Gibson's book. The book is cool, and essentially I am learning the same things for the 3rd time because I learned most of this during my time in school. I have experience setting up VMs and using some programs.....the game plan is to make it seem like I was always doing this for at least 4 years on my resume even though I only just set these virtual environments up this weekend :russ: fukk them hiring nikkas lol
