How do I professionally tell an end-user to stop @'ing me for every issue with his computer? I just got off furlough and was reading through my old emails and I swear I had at 20+ emails from this dude. Furlough was probably the best thing that ever happened to me. It made me realize how stress out and miserable I was/am at my job. I suffering from hypertension headaches and terrible anxiety which all stopped all I was on leave. I'm refocused and motivated to break out helpdesk. This is my third week back and I can feel the stress coming back and I'm not gonna be dealing with this ish again.

He sends in emails to our helpdesk but always CC's me on the tickets like I'm his damn slave which makes me have to take the ticket. This dude is a c*nt -very difficult and demanding. Won't answer the phone when I call to schedule a time to look at his machine or respond to emails because he's too "busy". When he's finally available it's always after my shift is over then he gets angry and sends in crazy emails to my boss about how I wouldn't help him and he was unable to work because no one in IT would help him with his pc. And it's not just him it's so many other people who act like I'm their personal IT person.

There are times when I'm working remotely on two different people's computers and on a phone with a third user it's insane. I feel like I'm drowning and the other help desk techs suck and don't do pull their weight as much.

Back to the subject at hand. Would this be alright to send to him and others like him: "In the future please submit a ticket to the Help Desk, and your request will be responded to in the order in which it was received by an available technician."?

Side note: I pass the AWS CCP back in June. I decided to skip the Network + and am going for the CCNA. Once I finish this then I'll be working towards the AWS SA.
Check my post about cautioning inexperienced ppl in jumping into the cloud. Your head is in the right direction and there are plenty of jobs that pay great money in it but it's not as easy to get them as you think. many of the companies are looking for close to a decade years experience. There's other steps you in look into first like linux sysadmin

Have you tried reverse engineering malware before?

I'm not that far in... I was studying for the A+ and I'm about 60% able to pass the exam. I haven't done any virtual labs yet, which I believe would help me get to 100%. But I'm not even sure I wanna do it anymore. Doing desk/call/help work doesn't sound fun AT ALL. Though I'm sure the work is easy cuz the average person is an idiot calling or coming in cuz they didn't plug things in right. Idk. Then I skimmed thru me network+ book and networking sounds like a DRAG.

As for coding, I know some JavaScript and PHP (along with HTML and CSS ) and if I just work on a couple of projects and finesse my resume i can find some web development jobs or even do some freelance work. Idk, creating things just sounds more fun than fixing things. I might still end up getting the A+ eventually just to have that skill as a backup, but I think I'm gonna focus more of my time and energy with coding.

This is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. On here and reddit I'm always reading about how the average help desk/IT guy hates their job and feels stuck... I'm trying to not feel that way. Anyone here have experience with both programming and IT?

End users will be the least of your worries. Way until you work alongside a bunch of hating ass, bytchass, lazy ass IT co-workers. That's who you have to watch out for more than users.

I can handle end users when they get out of pocket. So they never mouth off again.

For real man lol. I figured after I got the A+ I'd go straight into Network+ , but skimming through the PDF book for networking I'm just like fuuuuuck :snoop: do I really wanna do this shyt? :shaq2:

I never felt that way when learning to code. You basically just gotta remember some syntax, logic, rules, then create stuff... It's much more fun imo

Breh... one thing about "fun" careers is that there's more people vying for positions.

Plus, there's so much more to programming. Libraries, frameworks, unit testing, databases, and algorithms (which are antithetical to the word "fun")

I get it, but you still have to somewhat enjoy what you're doing also. I'm still keeping the CompTIA certs in my back pocket just in case.
