Be careful with this here.

no need, I'll trek with mud on my boots and apologize about the carpet later. but this "I'm not like them" rhetoric is no different than white people when they pull out their "I'm not like those white people" bit.

Look bruhs...

The real issue is...

We just gotta make our own shows...

Black women making their shyt, and they can do whatever they want, portray us as whatever they want...

We just gotta make better shyt than them. :yeshrug:

20 years later and I still haven't seen the black male version of Waiting to Exhale. How about a black male Something New? You think black women would be cool with that?

Bruh...

If I made a TV show about the bytch I have dealt with...

Black feminists would lynch me :russ:

Notice no one has anything to say about these posts.

They'd know the gender reversal of this show would be bullshyt. :mjlol:

It's something that Black people has never made before. A show that is a day in a life of a Black person. It isn't trying to prove Black people can be anything.

FACTS.

It is it's own type of show.

Insecure clearly has a a cliche archetype anyone could pick up in the first seconds of the trailers they put out for it.

watching the trailers for Atlanta you had no idea what it was even going to be about.

How exactly?

If the people in a show being depicted aren't like you, then you should not take offense when those types of people are depicted because it's not about YOU.

When Black people say Black Lives Matter, it doesn't mean that the lives of other groups of people don't matter.

When Black people talk about cops that shoot unarmed Black people, they aren't talking about ALL cops, but just like the Black men in this thread who claim these characters don't represent them, they STILL get angry because apparently, if Black men aren't being depicted in a light they've signed off on, it's unacceptable entirely.

How is Awkward Black Girl/Insecure is any different from a typical "I am looking for a man" centered Black female show....

Like we seen this before...especially as Black men, we already know what is gonna happen...and we already seen Awkward Black Girl and Insecure is an adaption of that...

Why the hell do we wanna see another Black female work narrative fiction where the Black man isn't good enough...so she runs off with a White dude?

We would rather just have the Black girl be with the White man and just cut to the chase, so we don't gotta be in the show.

I support Black works if it is good. That Guy...is a Black female created show...and it's actually treats Black men right...it doesn't make us into cardboard.

I don't believe you want to see anything by Black women based on your comments here, but that's just me. I think you're open to it in theory, but in practice it has to be under very specific and restrictive parameters for you to not have a problem with it. But I don't expect you guys to support black women, really I don't, so I'm not surprised nor hurt by your comments. I was just calling out the ridiculousness of it all because of the comparison you guys chose to prop up. Do you. I'm happy over the course of our conversation you've found another poster to write the exact type of show you've spent this whole thread complaining about.

:mjlol:

Enjoy your Sunday.

Sure. I wanted to do something about a black IT who can't find a good woman.

I wrote a screenplay about a Black guy going to college and his girlfriend and his slutty best friend that loves him...

His GF cheated on him with a guy that was going to an Ivy which fukks him up.

But his slutty best friend is there for him....

It's kinda based on the Whore/Maddonna theory.

Th irony is you probably don't even like the show and just wanted something to argue about.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Uh...I watched Power, That Guy and Being Mary Jane...

All 3 made by Black women...

And That Guy was an independent webseries.
