How doesn't it?

The character of Reggie is a successful, intelligent, and driven black man who manages his cousins career (to great effect) and is married to a successful, ambitious black woman. They actually discuss their issues and problems and he takes her advice and suggestions seriously.

The character of Cam is in a relationship with a black woman, a black woman that he loves and respects, even to the point where he tells her about possibly having an STD even though he fears she may leave him. He doesn't cheat on her, abuse her, or treat her like an accessory. She's not a video model or Instagram thot, she's...surprise surprise...an intelligent black woman who has her own career and goals.

I read his post wrong after reading something that was posted after his.... I thought he was calling it out on some low level c00n shyt... .I misread it completely...

Th irony is you probably don't even like the show and just wanted something to argue about.

I watched and like both shows. The difference is I don't have a problem with Black men like y'all do Black women, so I don't nitpick everything they do for a reason to boycott. But I will drop Atlanta if it doesn't introduce more Black female characters though. I can't support "black" shows, that make it a point to exclude the same way white shows exclude us.

And Power is a black woman created show that centers around a Black man. Thats why you all don't have a problem with it. If Power was centered around Tasha, you all would hate it. Its interesting you all bring up Power though, because Power is created by a black woman and has a black man cheating on his black wife with a white woman and there has thus far been no uproar from black women about it, like there still is for Scandal 7 years later. Again, very restrictive parameters for you guys to support anything by a black woman. Not so, at all, for the reverse.

Only thing I disliked about Awkward Blk girl was...I'm sure ya'll can guess with me.

Anyhoo moved on to Blk and Sexy TV which has an assload of quality shows depicting gorgeous blk people.

I like Hello Cupid, That Guy and The Number.

I'm starting to understand he likes to scurry away when his ad hominem and strawman attacks are picked apart.

He tries to target inarticulate posters, and assumes those 'mythic' black professionals won't respond to him.

If I don't repsond to your post it's because I didn't respond not because I'm scurrying away which is clearly not the case considering I'm still very present in this thread.

:francis:

also, I've never suggested that Black professionals don't exist, I happen to be a ... Black professional.

I typically don't watch black programming sans old Boondocks episodes, Black Dynamite and old BET talk shows from time to time. I wonder if it's like Being Mary Jane, that show is funny and I relate to the family and issues. Nothing wrong with women sharing their experiences. If she is indeed a descendant of African immigrants she is probably fabricating some stuff bc their fams tend to be more functional and the men are generally more family focused and if not they have a culture that shames them into at least pretending to do the right thing. She is probably living vicariously through her AA friends (unless she grew up around low-income Americans) and I hope she cuts them a check.

Must be chronicles of multigenerational American brehs. If they have been here at least two generations chances are their grandfathers married a thots or hood boogers which is why the majority of you can't name both sides of your family without ancestry websites or court documents.

I am sure Robert Kardashian Sr. Armenian parents are rolling in their graves at what type of women their male heirs choose to share their DNA and namesake with. I will have to check it out to see what the hype is all about.

Why would any Black person, Black male or female support a show where a Black woman is the side chick to a White President...with the history of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemmings...

Like why would any Black woman create that show...

That's why you should've quoted me and addressed what I said instead of being a passive aggressive little bytch. I guess you can't help it.

Doesn't look like something I would enjoy. Looks pretentious and annoying.

Issa Rae going to be the new Shonda Rhimes.

Pushing Black female/White Male relationships by any mean necessary.

shyt is incredibly blatant.

#blackgirlmagic #builtlikeraymondfelton #melanin

First daniel cormier then rampage jackson now mond felton this nikka lol :dead:

If you don't like the reality that is being reflected, change the reflection... don't get mad at the mirror...

Black men are the most underemployed/unemployed men (by design) out here... it's not a farce to depict the struggle of dating an unemployed Black man...

Black men are having children out of wedlock at a higher rate than usual. Marriage rates are down. This website even proliferates the hit it and quit it, smash and dash mentality. So encountering a man who is only interested in sex is not bashing. It's the truth.

I don't agree that there won't be an ordinary brother on the show... I think there already was... the only interested in sex brother was very regular... I don't think he is a terrible person because he was looking for a friends with benefits situation. I think that is quite common in regular dudes these days.

It makes him a terrible choice as a partner but not a terrible person. Just like not all Black corporate women are stuck up, boogie, and manless; there are some.

I don't see why Black men feel offended by the depictions so far.

Right.

Im sure you and @PartyHeart would have no problem with a show by a bm depicting most of its black female cast in a negatively stereotypical fashion.
