Dio and Griffith both way bigger haters than Vegeta. Griffith killed his whole crew because he lost to Guts and Dio hated Jojo so much he forced Jojo's girlfriend to kiss him so that Jojo wouldn't be her first kiss and he killed his dog.

Vegeta doesn't even hate on Goku like that anymore lol. They'll always be rivals, but he has a healthy respect for him. But of course he wants to be the strongest, it's no different than Goku. They're Saiyans, it's on their DNA

Goku at LEAST had the excuse of suffering a traumatic head injury, raising HIMSELF for half of his life and the other half spent with an old pervert for a mentor. Think about it, NOBODY in Goku’s life taught him how to be a man or really anything besides fighting. Its only natural thats what he loves and focuses on. Hell his own wife basically conned him into marriage.
