That’s the worst thing you can be in basketball. A team with no developing star and a first or second round exit as your ceiling. In that situation there isn’t any reason to be excited. Winslow and bam as your core means 20-25 wins on a season.

Just like football. It's either be really bad or really good. You cant be in-between--that's where you will stay. Like the Dolphins :francis:

The difference is that in football you don’t need a top five pick to improve to a contender. There’s value to be had in all seven rounds. The Steelers never draft high but are always in contention. Who’s the last guy Green Bay spent a high pick on? The list of cornerstone players that were drafted sixth or lower in the nba is pretty slim. Kobe, Karl Malone, Curry, Nash, and maybe 1-2 other guys. Without a top five pick, you’re basically not getting a future star. The dolphins suck because they always make bad choices in all aspects. Whiffing on picks all the time, giving out bad contracts, and never hiring good coaches.

And now we're seeing the effects of that :dwillhuh:

2 years later with those stupid contracts :dwillhuh:
nah I'm saying you made the comment like they dished out the contract because they finished 30-11 when all this was prior to that.
Might be the worst contract in the whole league :picard:. What the fukk was Arison thinking matching the nets? Unless he turned into MV3 era Wade it was never gonna be good value.

Wade walked, Deng & Iso Joe priced out the market, Bosh health status. The sky was falling and Micky made an emotional decision on some "I'm not gonna be the only one thats brokenhearted" shyt. I know where his head was at, but Riley or Ellisburg should have intervened. anyways whats done is done

That's why I said for the next couple of years and hopefully DRAFT an allstar caliber plater supported by bam and winslow. There's no miracle hapoening for us next year. That win streak last year fukked us. We just gotta be a treadmill for a minute, then blow it up. It is what it is.

If going on impulse I'd say have a fire sale

Guards:
Dragic: GONE
Tyler Johnson: GONE
Dion Waiters: GONE
Josh Richardson: GONE
Ellington: GONE

Forwards:
Winslow: GONE
James Johnson: GONE

Centers:
Hassan Whiteside: GONE

Basically i wouldnt mind eveyone not named Adebayo or Olynyk out the door. I like James Johnson a lot but contract is too long. THo in a Riley system that pushes players to stay in shape i think he' might be fine at his age. Kinda on the fence with Winslow but im fine with ditching him too

I'm a little bit salty for not being tagged into the thread. :francis:

Whiteside can be moved. There are enough dominant big men in the league that teams will need a defensive big man to matchup. Embiid and AD doing what their doing makes Whiteside valuable for his defense. We'll have to take on a bad contract, but we can get a 1st for him (probably in the 20s though).

Dragic is moveable. He can be moved to a team that needs a scoring PG. He still can do that even if it means coming off the bench. Dragic would provide depth and scoring punch. Low 1st or high 2nd. PG, defense, penetrate, and 3 point shooting. He's good in this analytical era.

TJ isn't going anywhere unless Brooklyn wants him for nothing in return.

JJ can be moved if tied with J-Rich.

I like JJ though. Keep JJ and Dion. Move Whiteside, Dragic, and TJ (tied w/ J-Rich) for picks.
Let Winslow and Bam start and develop.
We have 1st rounders for the next 2 years, let's get young talent. Forget about free agency.

#SpoNeedsToGoThough :mjcry:

Also, it is stupid for you guys to be fighting over fandom. The winning streak was fun last year but it ruined the team. We could have had the next Wade, the fans hating it and wanting us to tank were right. I disagreed with them at the time but it would have been better for the team. That's my thing with Riley. I love the never quit culture of the organization but sometimes you have to know when to tank. He should have maxed out Wade, let Bosh walk after Lebron did, not trade picks for Dragic (we gave up 2 1st rounders), and build through the draft. But, we've been mediocre years now and disvalued draft picks, we need a new vision.

A lot of this is easy to say in hindsight. Dragic was bought here to play with Wade and Bosh, we never saw it. It's no fault of the organization that Bosh had a health issue, obviously that core would have been able to make some noise in the playoffs. I can appreciate the moves to try to stay competitive. What kind of send off would that have been for Wade to max him out and play his final years on tanking teams just because LeBron left? They rebuilt as quick as they could with Bosh and signing Deng, and the Dragic trade..then Bosh got hurt it didnt work. We were a game away from the ECF, tried to get KD that summer, didnt work. They have to disregard what fans want because fans dont know, and they damn sure dont evaluate talent. Case in point @Freddie.Cane and I were the only ones beating down the door for Donovan Mitchell going up to the draft, look at last years offseason thread and see who these guys crying about tanking were ready to fall on the sword for.

edit: forgot @Armchair Militant was leading the Mitchell wagon too
