I doubt Wonder Woman was in the top 20 before her movie came out. Now she's back in the public eye. Superman has a hit movie and he will probably get back in the top 20 but probably not over Batman or Wonder Woman. He's third in the trinity right now. He hasn't had his own movie in a while.

2018 similar case. You see where this is going, think when was the last time Superman was part of this type of position with the youth. Like I said his star has dimmed a lot.

He can get back there. He has the household name and that matters in this day and age of "nostalgia". I know DC wants Batman/Joker and they riding with Wonder Woman and Aquaman too but Superman should be the next focus.

Nah, you said Marvel/MCU changed that for the past 10 years with the movies.

Which doesn't matter because Supes is bigger than a hit movie. WW hadn't been hitting either. She didn't even have a movie of her own, and the demand was still there for the 1st one.

Now, 20,30, or 40+ years down the road of DC dropping the ball with Supes might change his status for newer generations.

Which gets back to the original point of the thread.

The Joker was a smash hit, and most recent hit. But he hasn't surpassed Batman. Not by a long shot.

MCU has had a nice run.

But it is still Superman, WW, Batman, and Spider-Man for iconic characters until further notice.

1. Find a random person on the street.

2. Hold up a picture of a character.

3. Ask them to give

• that character's name
• that character's REAL name
  
• their powers and how they got them
  
• their SPECIFIC background. Like it's not enough to say Wonder Woman comes from an island with nothing but women. SPECIFIC. It doesn't even have to be detailed or a comic nerd answer.

Only THE most popular characters are gonna get answers for all 4 of them.

Then you sort those by merch sales

Man y'all gotta be able to tell between demographics. Batman is popular with everyone. Joker is popular with the 16-35 crowd. Batman is popular with that crowd, the kids crowd and the older crowd.

So Joker might be more popular with one demo but not across all demos
