a team full of complete players is preferred
bigs are now catching up instead of just being fukking placeholders and ball-stoppers
like i said skills pay the bills and put butt in seats

It's not a case of "a team full of complete players", it's never really been about that. But a case of the best players with the best teams - players who're top-5/top-10 who have the most balanced complimentary squads for the climate/era that they're in. That's the balance I'm referring to.

Folk are too fixated on what positions matter most, when really it's a simple case of the best players on the best teams.

Quite a few underdog squads have won titles.

Its not just the case of best player on best team.
Outliers.

And I'm talking about probability - the best players on the best teams have the highest probability of winning. It's not about positions.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
And not a damn one will win a title without an offensive anchor on the perimeter.

Disagree here, Embiid definitely has the tools to be the offensive anchor of a title team, much like Dirk if you put enough shooting around him and high level defenders he'd be able to do it.

A lot of bigs have been held back by freethrow shooting, defense and inability to stretch the floor, he does all 3.

Marc Gasol is the Godfather for this era of centers, he was the first center playing with an all around skill set we hadnt seen in too many centers since the 90's

Nah, these young guys weren't checking for Marc like that.

Hakeem
Dirk
Tim
KG
Pau

Those are the guys most of these young bigs have emulated, Dirk is the one who showed them they didn't have to always play in the post. Pau because he was on so many nationally televised games and played with Kobe, Hakeem via youtube and in Embiids case VHS tapes.

I think you'd need an operational definition of "best team"

Then you'd need to go through every year of the modern era and find who the #1 was on each of those best teams

If there is a huge disparity in either direction, perimeter or bigs, then and only then could I agree with your assertion

I know Embiid is your guy but Dirk's ability to put it on the floor is in another stratosphere and he was a better passer.

Dirk is literally the exception to needing a guard to feed him the ball in his areas of the floor.

Dirk was mostly a mid-post player that would use the triple threat when they won the title, if Embiid survives a few more years and makes it to his prime he is the type of big man that would be able to win a title.

Hakeem and Duncan did it as well, the young Gawd is in their lineage :hubie:

I think you'd need an operational definition of "best team"
See - players who're top-5/top-10 who have the most balanced complimentary squads for the climate/era that they're in.
Then you'd need to go through every year of the modern era and find who the #1 was on each of those best teams
Except you can't test it like that. Especially since if you went back over those years you would be basing everything on hindsight reasoning, without the context of luck over that period.

A big with x-amount of talent/ability, with one of the best complimentary squads
A guard/wing with x-amount of talent/ability, with an average complimentary squad

x = equal

The big-led team would have a higher chance of winning a title, than the guard/wing-led team. Same applies vice versa - the guard/wing-led team would have a higher chance.

That's why it's not about positions, in the most general sense.
If there is a huge disparity in either direction, perimeter or bigs, then and only then could I agree with your assertion
You mean if there wasn't a huge disparity, you'd agree with me.

Dirk is a better passer than Embiid currently is, he's shown huge improvements in that department. The skillset is there, a lot of bigs you can't depend on them in the crunch because they can't shoot freethrows.

Winnings winning
