I mean....Kendrick is a plant in that they hid his Interscope signing while pretending he was indie. I was the first person to point out the Travis McGuin thing.
But ultimately....who gives a fukk?
This thread is classic coli ... Do complete 180s and reverse both tone and message towards the evil corporate music industry based not on principle, but PURELY whether the artist being discussed is an internet bad guy or babyface
But yeah Interscope (rumors of their demise in the wake of the decline of the shady/aftermath era were greatly exaggerated) has done a masterful job with Kendrick no doubt...They knew Rap smarks get moist for shyt like the "omg they're independent and free of the machine... It makes the music so much realer" narrative and worked it perfection in the Section 80 era... And had effectively cornered the market for "conscious rap for mainstream listeners" by the time gkmc dropped... Was afraid they were reaching too far and was gonna corn him out when that wack ass I single dropped...And never really got into TPAB.... But Damn. is just right... Will probably be my most listened to Kendrick project
He just got his own tour finallyare you really gonna sit here and re-hash this same argument that I shut down yesterday when I chased you out of the other thread?
I thoroughly explained the difference between artist development & plant development.
hip-hoppers love to play dumb. that's why we don't own this chit now.
in other words, with all of the resources & faux accolades behind Kendrick, he should be a lot bigger & more popular than he is.
especially with the hip-hop crowd. not Coachella.
and he should be headlining his own tours. not just performing at festivals. word to @bigbadbossup2012
none of these guys were plants so this whole comparison is null & void.
don't try to apply the 50 cent argument to Kendrick.
50 was organic and was the underground king before going mainstream. that's why that argument works for him.
truth hurts isn't even a rapper.
what are you doing?
lol.
hes working a gimmick.
diss pitchfork rappers when you were one yourself brehs, and pretend like you were chosen by the streets,
youre a dikkhead.
It's part of the narrative that these smug smart dumb 'real hip hop' fans eat up.
Kendrick's marketing team effectively tapped in to the arrogance of these types![]()

None of it matters, the point is Drake was being pushed harder then Kendrick wasThe "industry plat" shyt in general is just
So what?
You wanna make a skill based argument against Drake I'm with it...da fukk any of that got to do with anything? Mobb Deep had industry connects before they popped, the music industry pays attention to what stupid muthafukkas do/say/react to and they adjust their game plan, seems like some people are just happy that they figured some shyt out.
nikka, by the time Drake's "buzz" was happening he was already signed to Cash Money
He had people fukking with him, but it was mostly Canadians and people who recognized him Degrassi
nikkas didn't start fukking with Drake like that until around the time Stunt Hard and the original Forever dropped
It was clear then that Cash Money/Universal was pushing him.
It wasn't until So Far Gone dropped that it was discovered that Rap-A-Lot had their money in also
It's an extension of when they took over the blog rap scene in the late aughts... Wiz's kush and oj run is up there too as far as best label astroturfing... It's just hilarious to see how full of shyt people when forced to acknowledge it.... NOW the music is all that matters and all the silly evil corporate conspiracy theories don't matter at all
I'm going to be real, Drake's come-up in the game was better than Kendrick's
Nobody was checking for K-Dot back in his Black Wall Street days like that
But Drake had fans going back to Replacement Girl
And people were fukking with Drake's music off top, Drake was dropping dope shyt but Kendrick? Not so much
It wasn't until Section.80 dropped that people started to fukk with Kendrick for real
Still Kendrick>>>>>Drake in terms of rap skills
Drake could never do what Kendrick does rap-wise

sub·parrosenbergs got furious and played dumb as expected
Be mad that your favorite subpar rapper has been selling you ducktales since OD, brehs.
sub·par
səbˈpär/
adjective
- below an average level.
I mean... do you know how ridiculously foolish you sound?
To hate on an artist because you don't like their sound is one thing... but to give adjectives that you and everyone on the Coli knows is baseless and absolutely filled with hate about Kendrick Lamar is troubling, lady.
You believe his sound is fake or not for you... okay.
But you're saying this dude is subpar?
How do you look right now? Almost as un-credible and unbelievable as you want others to think Kendrick Lamar is...
Projection is hell of a psychological concept.
Dude probably thinks Kendrick Lamar is a terrible Coli poster, too...![]()
None of it matters, the point is Drake was being pushed harder then Kendrick was
But like I said, Kendrick's rap skills are better than Drake's no matter how anyone spins it
