:sas2: the same thing happened with drake

They took a different strategy...Drake got pretty blatantly pushed as a Wayne protégée and used that cosign to make his rollout... Like people already mentioned, he got his major buzz when they put out that first batch of collabs (stunt hard, og Forever)... Then Ransom...Then So Far Gone... Kinda hard to "hide" affiliation when you got Wayne on like 5 tracks on your breakout mixtape, shouting you out at the MTV awards, bringing you out on tour and Drake himself yelling young money all over records... Nobody bought that "I did it without a deal" shyt he was talmbout once he actually got a budget

Interscope could've went that route by pushing him earlier and harder as a Dre discoveree...But i think they did the right thing by not doing it till marketing Dres token vanity involvement with GKMC... Dre's stamp had began to diminish by that time, wouldn't have been a good look to associate him with all the failed aftermath signees

:russ: yea this proves that kendrick's come up was more organic and less built on connections unlike drake
Kendrick's come-up was more organic, I agree

But I would be lying if I said I was fukking with him more than Drake during his come-up

That's really all that needs to be addressed...not how he's being marketed or whether his "discography" is better than Nas'...that's music industry jargon at this point, it's not Hip Hop.

We ground the argument in skills and the arts and it can't be co-opted without doing the culture justice.

And Drake...if you're interested in money SHOULD be pushed harder than Kendrick. That's what the music industry is about, let them do what they do.
I agree, which is why it doesn't bother me to see Drake branching out to different genres, he's good money

And I don't like how people are pushing the "Kendrick Vs. The Goats" narrative around, he's in his own moment...let us worry about that

Does he have exceptional skills? Of course, anyone who's being rational can see clearly that Kendrick can rap(whether how and what he raps about entertains you is another story)

drake was bragging about being independent with so far gone and how there was a bidding war :duck:

they didnt hide the dr dre affiliation with kendrick though, they just didnt announce that he was signed until 2012 and acted like they were fully independent. Which is basically the same thing drake went through:pachaha:

:yeshrug: Both can be considered plants and both were "fake indepedent" at a certain time so who cares

sub·par
səbˈpär/
adjective
  1. below an average level.

I mean... do you know how ridiculously foolish you sound?

To hate on an artist because you don't like their sound is one thing... but to give adjectives that you and everyone on the Coli knows is baseless and absolutely filled with hate about Kendrick Lamar is troubling, lady.
You believe his sound is fake or not for you... okay.

But you're saying this dude is subpar?

How do you look right now? Almost as un-credible and unbelievable as you want others to think Kendrick Lamar is...

Projection is hell of a psychological concept. :wow:

Dude probably thinks Kendrick Lamar is a terrible Coli poster, too... :heh:

Don't waste your time breh he's a fukking moron

Interscope could've gotten behind him when Game was pushing him on Black Wall Street mixtapes but he wasn't ready yet. Smart move and gamble on their behalf because he actually became a better, more marketable rapper

the best coast
in other words, with all of the resources & faux accolades behind Kendrick, he should be a lot bigger & more popular than he is.

especially with the hip-hop crowd. not Coachella.

and he should be headlining his own tours. not just performing at festivals. word to @bigbadbossup2012.

humble is the song for the nba finals :mjlol: try again clown

Upcoming Dates
kendrick damn national tour tickets out now

If Kendrick is an industry plant, then wtf is Drake?

No racist but he's a jew and hip-hop/entertainment industry is owned by Jews.

Saying Kendrick is more of a plant than Drake is disingenuous.
Garbage opinion.
