Is Jerry Seinfeld the biggest one hit wonder?

I gotta sit down and watch Seinfield one of these days. I'm a 90s baby and yet I've only seen 3 episodes to along with Friends

I'm on Season Two, Episode Two... Which is why I asked this..

I never once dissed the man in anything.. I just find it absolutely crazy that a comedian, a stand up comedian who loved it so much, he put it in his show... Would do one classic show and have no other material considered classic, and still get deemed classic by the masses....

He didn't even try other shyt. No Chris Rock Special. No lead man in a movie. No producing some big anything. Nothing. There's plenty of people who were successful. Some you'd say had better shows or better movies than he had a show. They didn't just quit the business. And if they did, they weren't regarded so highly.



It's pretty crazy to me. But dudes acting like I said he a bytch or something

He tried and did something though.. I'm really not doing a comparison of who is better.. I'm saying isn't it strange a stand up comedian did one thing and said fukk it... But he's still regarded as one of the funniest ever

If Chris Rock only did Bring the Pain and never did any other work... Then did interviews 20 years later.. Would you still be saying he's one of the best of all time?

OP do you think Michael Jordan was a one hit wonder since he failed miserably when he tried baseball?

Do I think Jordan is amazing only at basketball the way I see Jerry as only amazing in this one show?

But that was a dumb analogy.. Being a comedian or an actor, both means you do multiple things in that field. Like Jordan would be a one hit wonder if he could ONLY dunk. It seems Jerry could only play himself in this show.

I think his stand up is trash but he's one of the biggest and most respected stand ups I hardly call that a one hit wonder.

Not to mention the fact Seinfeld had multiple seasons.

If that's a one hit wonder I would sign up for it everytime.

You can’t call someone a “one hit” wonder when they did that shyt successfully for NINE STRAIGHT SEASONS and then went onto to create another highly successful long running series in Comedians Getting Coffee.

Y'all purposely missing the point... A TV show is one thing for an actor.. Do we say the people from Game of Thrones, didn't have a hit, because it was terrible and failed at the end? No... It was fire for 5-6 seasons. Do we not call Martin a classic, even though it was only good 3-4 seasons? No... We take it as one body of work.


Seinfeld was a show.. It is on GOAT levels. I wouldn't call it the best, but I'm not fukking stupid. I know MILLIONS call it the best and even more call it top 3. But that's still one body of work....

So I'll ask the QUESTION again. Is there any other person who is so revered, based on ONE body of work? Nobody was/is checking his standup, movies, nothing. Y'all might watch him interview people NOW. But before that show came on, he still was held in the same regard.

White, black, jewish, female.... I never fukking seen it. nikkas will drop a classic album and still trot out 4 more mid joints... Or 2 classics and 5 mids.. Nobody just drops one album.. Shoots one movie... Wins one ring in his rookie year and wraps it up. And if they did, they press would eat them up. Y'all don't see this as weird?

But he didn't. He has some movies based on his comedy, a game show and then finally a talk show that actually got traction and has a fan base.

Na Simon never may have hit the heights of The Wire again but most of his stuff is quality. Treme was excellent, the Duece was good and Show Me A Hero was a dope to. The only thing I think was kid was Generation Kill. I'm a fan of his stuff overall.

If we're talking movies and TV shows, then yeah he kind of is a one hit wonder, albeit one of the greatest shows of all time and my favorite show of all time. But maybe he chose not to do anything more than he wanted to. A lot of sitcom stars fall into the category, it's hard for viewers to see them in any other light.

And see that's the difference I'm getting at and most are confusing...

If it counts as one hit or not, isn't really the point. The point is more like, damn dude didn't even TRY to make another hit. Ok he didn't try, but dude didn't get ANY backlash for never trying.


At least the other two tried some shyt... Jerry has literally everything he has, based off that show and only that show. And is on par with comedians with 2-3 shows, 5 specials, 10 movies and an album

If I asked a great portion of people, who is the better comedian, Chris Rock, Bill Burr or Jerry... Jerry would get a lot of votes... Might even win.. Based off acting in a TV show? I mean where is Ray Romano?
