He actually stepped away from Seinfeld (they offered him 5 million an episode for the last season)

For 22 episodes, they were about to pay this man $110M for a season of tv

And you just can't call Seinfeld a "hit"

shyt's arguably the most popular show of all time, so popular that more than 20 years after it went off the air, Netflix paid $500M just to stream it for 5 years.

He was doing standup, appearing on Johnny Carson and had an HBO special the year before he created Seinfeld.

He's only done 3 comedy specials since then.

Seinfeld was co written and created by Larry David. Who has showed for the past 11 seasons, he can make the exact same show without Jerry.

But what has Jerry done outside of that to be revered the way he is. He never did any other shows. Only movies he ever had a major part in was Bee Movie which was terrible and flopped. He’s a comedian but does he have any classic sets? Even a classic joke?

but if you told people Seinfeld is a wack comedian, they’d burst into flames.

Who else had a hit like that and nothing else and is held in such high honor. Not Ray Romano for sure.

It's a real thought though. Y'all ever see Finding Forrester? Sean Connery character writes the perfect novel then disappears. Heralded around the world and his book his taught at college, but he refuses to write another so he can't fail.

That's Jerry to me. I know how great it would be to do a one and done. Get all your money and fame and never work again. But literally nobody does it. They at least try. Or had success before the big one. This would be like MC Hammer quitting after Don't Touch This

He also had a Documentary type movie where he felt he wasn't a funny stand up anymore. Don't think it was meant to make a lot of money but it also garnered 0 buzz.

He also tried to start a TV show with celebrities settling domestic disputes. Never watched because I knew the concept was terrible.

Larry came back did Curb which is basically a better Seinfield than Seinfield and proved he is the man with the actual voice and talent.
