Over?

What a dumb question.

She switched genres, didn’t release any videos, promo, or world tour for the album and it debuted at number 1 with a number 1 debuting single.

It’ll more than likely be nominated for AOTY at the Grammys with multiple nominations across three different genre categories.

She’s doing just fine.

Hey feel free to disagree but I think Beyonce is in a much higher tier than Toni Braxton (who I love)

A lot of folks carry water for Beyonce and I respect it. She's a prominent AAA list black female artist and there aren't too many examples of that sadly. It does feel a bit cultish though, like any critique of hers is handwaved away. She moves funny and always has, even in the DC era

Even when Prince was quieter. This was a guy that wrote and produced all of his own music, and several others' as well. He had a wild stage presence, visual aesthetic, challenged norms and was outspoken about the industry. He definitely wasn't shilling for political parties and selling products. He had SLAVE written on his face...

What do we know about Beyonce really? Her music is paraded around the DNC and she's an auto-endorsement for any Democratic candidate. She also has no problem popping out for Levi's or Lancome or Pepsi, so it feels a bit strange that we protect her "aura and mystique" unless she's running offense for the Democratic party and various corps but not saying or doing anything else, shrug
Thats my point. She is in a higher tier. But Toni was collecting number ones and going Diamond in her prime. She was a huge crossover star. Yet she did Vegas almost 20 years ago when she was younger than B is now. Thats the track for most artists no matter how big they were in their prime. So it says a lot about B that even at this point, even with your questions, you still think she is too big for Vegas.

All superstars have cult like followings. Go to the Coliseum and search "Jordan, Kobe, LeBron" and see what comes up.

Even with all Prince did we dont know shyt about him. He died and folks started talking about his surviving family members and siblings. I legit thought he was an only child :mjlol:

Now if you are saying she is a corporate puppet...I mean who worth billions isnt (black and female that is)? :manny: Only rich white men get to do and say as they please.

:wow:One of the best black acts that’s still running. The day she retires will be a sad one.

It’s not a flop because no one is suppose to be this relevant for this long. Streaming is the best thing to happen to the Beyoncé, drakes, future and Kanye’s of the world

If these artist had to make hit records that appeal to the audience that was consuming music videos and radio they would’ve fallen off years ago. With streaming all they have to do is keep delivering to their large stanbases

I agree with this 100%. It ensures nobody goes out like Michael Jackson or Madonna anymore. Even people who were on the cusp of career death/oblivion like Usher have new life and relevancy. This is also why everyone is adopting the same stan culture shyt that (gay) pop fans created years ago. Having dedicated fans obsessed over you who stream your music nonstop, get your social media engagement numbers up etc while prying into your personal life and being weird as fukk...everyone is leaning into that shyt now.

Beyonce can't flop, I agree. I also can't imagine a day where she struggles to fill up a big tour. Too big to fail status.

Is Vegas a bit below Beyonce tho? I think her team is waiting until the absolute end to pull that lever.

She'd obviously become the biggest to ever to do that but it would also kind of kill her as an artist IMO

There is still a perception that Beyonce music is "culturally important". After a Vegas residency, you're kinda done creatively.

Seems like a better option for Katy Perry than Beyonce...

i dont think this is true. not anymore. usher just used his residency (and all that content it created of him acting like mr. stealyogirl) to kick-start a major tour. that residency made him more relevant than he'd been in years. and beyonce was in negotiations for a major residency at the sphere. they just couldn't agree on the terms.

i actually think it makes more sense to do it while your name is still ringing out. it allows you to command the best deal possible, and walk away if you dont like the terms. coming off a tour that grossed half a billy, a venue like the sphere (which cost $2 billion to create and still lacks a true go-to tourist attraction) needs her more than she needs them.

A tier above no doubt but she didn't make the better albums

Yup, the internet in general has helped a lot of brands just become too big to fail now. Once you get popular enough you just become this self-sustaining ecosystem instead of eventually falling off viciously like in the old days. The you throw in stan culture, poptimism, and all these brands being invested in the success of these artists in a way they weren't before

Unless they drop a historically horrible album, there career will be fine because even a weedplate will have rabid stans gassing it up. A run of bleh albums like Views, Scorpion, and CLB would've finished Drake even 15 years ago.

I agree with this 100%. It ensures nobody goes out like Michael Jackson or Madonna anymore. Even people who were on the cusp of career death/oblivion like Usher have new life and relevancy. Yep those artist fell off because they had to compete with newer, fresher artist for the ears and eyes of young people.

If music was still about generating interest from the 14-22 year old demographic for your music with a lead single all these old artist that are still thriving would’ve have fallen off years ago.

It’s truly fascinating to me. It’s not possible for Beyonce or Future new music to connect with middle schoolers. That’s how you remained relevant in the past. New fans or listeners don’t even matter anymore

Her fans listened and that’s all she has to cater to at this point, but she’s not gonna move the needle with casuals or super young Gen z at this point. The end of Her heyday was damn near a decade ago.

It's SZA

She has 2 albums charting on the billboard 200 right now

She has the edge. She's young ...the vibey, lowfi r&b she is known for is trending ...It's not uncool for men to listen to her ....

In terms of popularity she, Rihanna and Beyonce are at the top

Summer Walker had a moment but not sure what happened with that

Seriously, she could drop the Miley Cyrus song as a single with a video tomorrow and be back on the charts if she felt like it.
