A thread full of excuses for a 7’4 wonder kid with a skill set to light the league on fire but his team is 3-15. This team was 22-60 last season. At this rate they’ll finish with a worse record. No excuses. You’re the #1 pick. If your addition alone cannot raise the profile of a team then I’m having a hard time believing the hype.
ESPN and Bleacher Report had be thinking he would ignite them to 60 wins right off. I was seeing them post these routine ass highlights but since he’s doing it at 7’4” it’s “ :damn: :damn: :damn: “ dude is looking like a more productive French Christian Wood. A 6’6” 230 guy is bodying him.

Revisiting this...

It doesn't help that they're losing badly...doesn't matter how good Wemby is if his play isn't translating to wins.

In those 3 games they won especially the two against Phoenix yeah, everybody was getting hyped up about him and drooling at the mouth 🤤 at the idea of Wemby's “arrival” but then out of nowhere here they go on a 13 game losing streak.

Winning makes a difference when it comes to hype...ain't nothing to brag about when you're losing so his individual stats and highlight plays ain't gonna move the needle.

If they were winning we'd still be hearing about Wemby but for now it died down because it's hard to gloat about the greatness of a player when they're on the losing end every night.

He not winning:yeshrug:
David Robinson got the Spurs to 56 wins his rookie year after they won 21 games the previous season
Yeah but that team also added Terry Cummings and drafted Sean Elliott that same off-season. Victor doesn't have a comparable situation.

Spurs would look a lot better if they hadn't blown all those double digit leads

Chet's better; kid is shooting damn near 50-40-90 as a 7'1+ rookie. :picard:He's the one the so called "draft experts" should've been paying attention to and trying to hype up with the generational "KD but even taller" comparisons; Wemby is a statue with the ball in his hands in comparison. And he isn't an NBA level player when it comes to shooting it either; how you 7'6 or whatever and shooting only 43% from the field???? :dead:Man is putting up Jordan Poole shooting splits... when should be able to dunk the ball literally without leaving the ground. :russ: You can see the DPOY level ceiling on the other end... but in terms of the "Best prospect in the history of the sport" he is NOWHERE close, in any capacity. Him and Scoot raw as hell, completely unfinished products compared to what they were being hyped up as.
