Is it just me, or did the Olympics actually mean something when we were younger?

It doesn't work now because of the time difference and the internet. I can instantly find out if so and so won a medal or not.
All that suspense that NBC tries to built up doesn't work anymore.

The people coordinating the Olympics don't give a damn about the Olympics.

This applies to every form of media.

Only time anything is an event is if there's some sort of controversy or antagonizing theme.

Still a big deal, but like some already said tho, just getting older. Plus the tape delays can ruin it now because the results are on SM before it even airs here. Tape delays always been there, but you wouldn't know what happened until NBC aired it back in the day.

America is one of the few places where there is no real stigma with actively not having a sense of national pride.

As I grew up the Olympics are one of those things where I'm less excited/emotional at the start, but by the end while hearing the closing theme song and seeing the highlights I get sad that it's over and got to wait another four years for the next one.

At the end of the day, the events themselves don't mean much to people watching it because it's just entertainment as it's turned into simply a lot of rich people competing. There's lessons you extract from it though that potentially have personal value.
Closing Ceremony today and like clockwork :sadcam::mjcry:

Next one here in LA right around the corner from my brothers' house should be great, but I already know the week after going to feel quiet af.

It's got to be a crazy two weeks for the hosting cities.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't really hyped for the Olympics at the start of the games, but now I don't want it to end.

This Olympics was lit AF

One of the few good things going.

They were so much fun to watch and now I’m going to follow the world athletics sports much more closely after this.

I can’t wait until 2028
