Faulk has some real shytty ypc seasons before he got to STL. He never sniffed a rushing title, never even hit 1500 yards rushing in a season. Great all around back, but he doesnt belong in the elite class,.in my opinion..Hes way closer to Thurman Thomas than he is to Sanders, Peterson and Payton.
To say marshall Faulk doesn’t belong in the elite class is insane..He was the main cog to one of the greatest offenses of all time. He was elite at running the ball and THE BEST all time out the backfield catching.

@murksiderock you still disrespecting LT, I see. Calling him Diet Faulk, when he is better than Faulk. RB is such a loaded positions, that its hard to narrow it.down. i put Jim Brown in the Babe Ruth category. My list.
1. Barry Sanders
2. Adrian Peterson
3. LaDainan Tomlinson
4. Walter Payton
5. Eric dikkerson
6. Emmitt Smith
7. Earl Campbell
8. Derrick Henry
9. O.J. Simpaon
10. Marshall Faulk
Henry still has some time to ascend, obviously.
I still think Tomlinson was kinda overrated. Five seasons with a ypc under 4; three of those seasons were in his prime too. :patrice:

Elite at running? No rushing titles, never rushed for 1400 yards in a season, multiple years of below 4.0 ypc. Bottoming out at 3.0 ypc. If he was the main cog, how come the GSOT fell off as soon as Warner got hurt? Faulk, Bruce and **** were still there. Why were they never a serious contender again? I always acknowledged his receiving abilities, but it causes most to overrate his "running ability". Being better all around doesnt make you better than someone. No one considered Roger Craig to better than ED? No one considered Thurman to be better than Barry or Emmitt. Who thought Ricky Watters was Earl Campbell? Or that Matt Forte was better than AD??!

Does he have 5 under 4, for real?? Off top, rookie year in 01? 2004?. Whats the other,.in his prime? He did go to a god awful Chargers team that was still reeling from Ryan Leaf.

2008. I know fall-offs can happen quick for RBs but he was First Team All-Pro in 2007
I wouldnt hold that against him, because like you said, RBs fall of, suddenly. Case in point, Curtis Martin wins his first rushing title in 2004. 2005? He is bone on bone and forced to retire at the end of the year. Corey Dillon has a career yr in 04, the follwing year there was a big regression. We see how rapidly Shaun Alexander fell off.
