All the greatest RBs in history fumbled

Walter Payton fumbled over 80 times

Eric dikkerson had 19 fumbles in one season
Exactly. And AD had 49 fumbles, which is far fewer than Payton with a difference of only about 600 carries, so both took on heavy workloads. Both All-Time greats. AD def fumbled, sometimes at the worst time, but that's a hell of a nitpick when comparing it to his production and the eye test.

It's also a nitpick to take points off because he had Steve Hutchinson for a few years. Many of his best years were when Hutch wasn't on the Vikings and he def ran behind some shytty overall lines at times. I would bet that if we go down the list, every RB we put on the GOAT list had years with the benefit of good lines along with some horrible O-Line years.

The fumbles are somewhat of a nitpick, but that is going to happen when you are comparing two very comparable players. I brought up the OL because people were saying that it's clearly Peterson as the better HB, so that's just adding some context to it. And, you are correct, Hutchinson was only there for a few years. As I said, Peterson, Tomlinson, and Henry are my top three since 2000, and I think each of them have a valid argument.

AD was better.

I don't get the overrating angle.
The overrated angle comes in when people literally use words like "ridiculous" or synonyms of it, saying it's "ridiculous" to say Henry is better. In that case someone is clearly overrating Peterson in comparison to Henry. We aren't comparing Peterson to Johnathan Stewart here, yet this thread has these kinda superlatives up and down...
You can suggest that Adrian Peterson is a top 10 running back in NFL history, and nobody would think you're crazy. Now suggest Derrick Henry is a top 10 running back, you'll quickly be laughed out of the room.:pachaha:
Now ask yourself why is that the case. Henry is in Y9 and was on pace to be the first 2x, b2b 2k rusher when he got hurt in '21. This is the caliber of player we talking about, you saying he should be laughed outta Top 10 consideration...

You should post your GOAT10. Because the handful of guys who've posted theirs so far are being exposed left and right, throwing names like Dorsett and Davis in there...

Hell nah, fumbles matter, how secure you are with the rock matters...

Everyone fumbles like everyone throws picks but there is an understood line on when a QB is throwing too many picks. Why isn't this the same for backs?

As of Y9, Henry has fumbled 18 times with 2286 touches, that's a rate of one fumble every 127 touches...

Peterson had 49 fumbles in 3535 touches, that's one fumble every 72.1 touches...

Payton had 86 fumbles in 4330 touches, that's one fumble every 50.3 touches...

dikkerson had 78 fumbles in 3277 touches, that's one fumble every 42 touches...

Even when you go back and watch these old highlights you can see how loose these older backs were carrying the rock. I can only imagine how many times these nikkas cost they team points and field position fumbling that often, and yall were kids watching these old backs so you don't have a photographic memory of how many times they hurt their team, only how often they carried their teams and their highlights...

Derrick Henry shouldn't be penalized, he should be praised for being more secure with the ball than these older nikkas who weren't...

Fumbles absolutely matter, you my dog but you sound crazy 😆 you may as well say points and field position and interceptions don't matter either 🤣...

He's having somewhat an overrated season imo. Pair Adrian Peterson or any of the other all-time greats with Lamar in that Ravens scheme/line and they'd destroy all sorts of records.

Hasn't been anywhere near this good for a couple of years. And those 4.3 Y/A seasons he's been having is closer to his actual level without the greatest rushing QB ever.
This is nonsense. So anyone can come in Henry's place and just break records? 🤣

First of all, sone of the All-Timers lack Henry's burst, some lack his breakaway speed, some lack his power, some lack his patience, almost all of em lack his ball security, some lack his nose for the end zone, you can take any GOAT running back and compare to Henry and find things Henry does better...

But if you put any of them in his place they'd just be breaking all kinda records 🤣...

Last year is the only year he looked like he was in decline. And he did struggle last year. Apparently it was an outlier because he's jumped right back to his 2019-2022 self again...

He's a touchdown machine and if not yet there, he's absolutely on the precipice of being a GOAT10 halfback...
