Whatever you think of Kevin Hart (I personally think he peaked with his first special 'I'm a Grown Little Man') he's probably the biggest comedian right now who transcends race, social status etc. He makes everybody laugh.

That's one of the things that fukks with me the most about Patrice O'Neal. black comics didn't really mess with him because he had the nerve to hang out and do shows with/for people who didn't look like him (and it's not a coincidence that the top black comedian we have now in Hart joined their clique when he was starting out - Norton, Quinn, Burr, DiPaolo, Robinson)

As a black guy I feel ashamed when I look at the majority of black comics today. They tell a joke and you're not sure whether you've heard the joke before (from them or someone else) because all n!ggas do is talk about the same shyt. And then tell the same jokes for YEARS.

Then when you're a fan of 'white' comedy n!ggas look at you funny. If I said Bill Burr > than ANY black comedian right now bar Chappelle (and right now that's based on his body of work not his activeness) n!ggas would clown but black comedians aren't pushing themselves.

I've slowly come to the realisation that black people are funnier than white people in general, but white people at least NOW, are better stand-up's. Not all, but at the level where it counts.

I think Chris Rock is right about a lot of today's comics, but he used poor examples for comedians that can work any crowd.

As far as the original post I don't see how Kevin Hart was left out like somebody else said. This dude can go on any of these talk shows and make jokes about his kids. That's Cosby-esque. He's the most popular right now. Maybe Chris Rock is jealous.

:usure: rock jealous of hart?

He's hotter right now. Look at his DVD sales, tours, movies (one of the Top Black movies last year). Better then Chris. OF course not? But how can he leave him off the list?

:what:

Dude literally watched the bullshyt that occurred in this country for the past century. As a white liberal pacifistic atheist ... how could you not be upset? Yeah, comedy is all fun and jokes, but ... he also did a lot of political commentary in his later years. That shyt could be mad depressing if you really look at it...

Exactly. Chris Rock is the best working stand-up comedian in the world, and arguably the best since Pryor and Carlin (Murphy was incredible, but stopped too quickly). Kevin Hart is funny and popular, but he's not even shining Rock's shoes, no matter how many arenas he sells out. Burr is underrated. He should be a household name, as he's a better pure stand-up than guys like Louis C.K. or Chappelle, who are more brilliant on their TV shows than on stage.
