Where would Steve Harvey fit in this? Not a fan of his but this dude hosting Oprah-esque women's talk show, Family Fued, etc.

seinfeld cannot work no damn black crowd the fukk

One thing that I was thinking about in relation to Chris Rock's comments while watching Seinfeld routines was that Seinfeld's jokes really do apply to everybody and their experiences in life.

For example, he makes jokes about socks. Everybody wears socks, so the joke applies to everybody. Sure Seinfeld's audience tends to be mostly white, but they are jokes that can easily be related to by other people.

When you got Larry the Cable Guy making jokes, it is primarily white Southerners that it is aimed at and others can't really relate to the jokes. Same thing with comedians that focus primarily on their race.

:heh: George Carlin doing a Black crowd? He would have to leave out his religious jokes. Black people as a whole ain't down with atheism. I've seen some of his specials back in the day on HBO. I don't see where he could connect like that.

As far as the original post I don't see how Kevin Hart was left out like somebody else said. This dude can go on any of these talk shows and make jokes about his kids. That's Cosby-esque. He's the most popular right now. Maybe Chris Rock is jealous.

you saw carlin when he was old. young Carlin was way more universal. He did jokes like cosby and those comics from the 60's and 70's. He only started getting edgy when Richard Pryor starting doing it. And only then he was doing jokes about words.

Chris Rock is a fakkit.

Some of the best and most beloved comedians of our time, like Dane Cook, Carlos Mencia, Katt Williams and Steve Harvey, have all had material that transcends cultural lines.

Those guys all started in the late 80's, early 90's.

They're not really the ppl Rock is referring to.

Nonetheless, the game is different now b/c everything has been done already. You can be funny as hell, but if you're doing black/white jokes in 2012, it's gonna be disregarded whereas 20 years ago you'd be making money.
