A-Rod killed that relationship before it even started with his comments in Esquire in 2001. They were friends and outta nowhere A-Rod takes a jab at him. Jeter was never going to trust him after that.

If he didn't know A-Rod well or just didn't fukk with him, I could see Jeter letting that go, but once that trust was compromised, it was over.
