Wrong, i went to a school in the south and it was 100% black and the school sucked, it was behind the times and very outdated, it was an opportunity to stay behind, if you can have the level of classes and education being given equally all around then yes. But if the school is offer 2nd and 3rd rate education, then you just put a generation behind. What you want is a black school that pushed beyond white schools stress more education and skill levels that are offered in their schools, remember we have to gave too be twice as better than them to get a job. Now before you say, we have to create our businesses and banks and all that, it is too late for that dream, right now we can prepare this generation too be better and they can reach those goals. I am sick of hearing about this all black everything right now, it is too late, next generation is the hope, look back at some of the threads made on her, do you really think this generation can do anything? I mean you had the dumbest thread in history on here about black women growing afros again, like that is some next level stuff, afros are a hairstyle not a cultural thing, samething as the dummy who made the thread on Jay Z and why doesn't wear a white t and baggy jeans anymore and that he dresses like a hipster, he is a wealthy man with money and talent, he can dress anyway he wants, but guys on here saying appearances don't matter, yes it does if you don't have the talent and skill to perform a job at that level. Same thing applies to this matter, we need to at a higher level to compete for anything, Asians get it, Indians get it. Imagine the day when when blacks flooed the market with doctors, lawyers and financial fields, imagine flooding the real estate markets, you can have your black money communities when we do this, you don't want unskilled morons running your businesses white or black or latin. Job skills and education is the only agenda i support as of right now.

So your singular experience is somehow indicative of how 1000s of other black learning institutions across the south are ran......??:childplease:

I appreciate this point of view, fam but that is not everyone's experience or perspective.

I grew up in the South, in ATL and went to an all black high school. Great black teachers who were able to get through to this former thug in training. :wow:
This school wasn't the best in the state, but it was the best in the county at that time. Pretty high graduation rate for being next door to the hood. Many students, myself included, were able to go on to college and earn degrees. Now I'm in IT. Everyday rocking Polo boots and dreds. Able to swap between urban and corporate vernacular like nothing. Hired during the dam job interview and usurped a white boy's spot right from under him by being a good azz employee. I'm respected around here and when I was told "you know, you are the first black woman this guy's ever hired" I was like, "did he have a choice? I'm the sh1t."

See the thing that will serve our community best is black pride. It is what my pops instilled in me. I never feel like I'm not welcome in the room - its my country too dam it. If this white dude is allowed in the room, so am I. Who gon stop me huh...

well my point is that we need to find out why your school suks and why other schools that are black dont suk and same goes for neighborhoods and cities that are majority black

by asking fundamental questions and exchanging information we can find out best practices on how to grow safe, prosperous black communities

my point is measuring progress by level of integration has not been shown to a best practice

but to be clear, i believe in the free market and individual freedom so i think people should do whatever they want, if you have a problem with 100% black then i think you should be free to move where you are the most comfortable

but IMO we need to get to the core of why having a 100% black school or city is a bad thing and how do we turn it into a good thing

:whoa: i never said i was not comfortable with 100% black, i just said as of right now 2013, there is no chance this would work, zero. I said for the next generation it may work. I see you and some others already think it can now, it can't, sorry, the black school i went to was in Shreveport and it was trash, you say majority of black schools don't suck? Ok why we so far behind then? If these schools were turning out winners we would see more of a change, i support the black leaders that have a realistic approach to problems, don't have rose colored glasses on and don't give underachieving blacks a pass.

actually im saying majority black schools and majority black neighborhoods and cities do suk, they suk bigtime, but there are some black schools and cities that dont suk

so im just suggesting we need to find out what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong as opposed to simply saying lets integrate with white people and lets stop this notion of using the number of white people in our midst as a measure of our progress

we need to address our problem the way problems are addressed in the business world and in science, where you start by asking fundamental questions, start questioning basic premises and come up with a solution from first principles, that is where im coming from

so im just asking, what is wrong with having a 100% black school or 100% black neighborhood or city?

i reject the notion that 100% black is bad by definition and the solution is to integrate, IMO that is the solution that has shown itself to be a failure and unsustainable

Huh? :dahell:

More of this one liner twitter ish. Let me know fam how you get THAT premise from THIS thread. Miss me with that non-productive sh1t. If you really want to talk I'm bout that, but c'mon son what are you even sayin? Substantiate that sh1t.
Okay, I thought it was pretty self explanitory, heres the explanation. Modern society = intergrated. Apparently being in an Intergrated society is what is holding black people back from achieving their potential. Is that not the premise of multiple posts here that you have co signed? When you have multiple people co signing ''we need to go back to segregation for a little'' that's what you're saying.

As another example you were saying the education system is failing you because you don't get taught exclusively by black teachers about black culture i.e non segregated education.

As a people you are losing because you are not segregated, why take issue with what i said, that's exactly what you're claiming isit not?

again nothing is wrong with it, but if we have it, no single mothers unless the father died, no 3 time losers, i am sorry if you mess up 3 times there is no hope for you and you shouldn't mess it up for anybody else. No leaches, everyone must contribute. I don't want any of those old blacks who brag about living in the projects for 20 years either, that is nothing to brag about. I want people who can inspire others to reach goals.

You're failing because of intergrated society, why take issue with that i said, that's exactly what you're claiming isit not?

Nope - not what I claimed at all. I didn't advocate segregation. I just pin-pointed integration as a catalyst for why the black power movement died. We became consumers rather than activists as a result and left the idea of black unity behind.

From my first post: But...we shouldn't have begged to integrate into white society. That's where we fukked up. The Black Power Movement was our chance to get economically independent, which we can all agree is what we need the most. The realest freedom we can aspire to in this country.

During that time frame (Black Power in the 1960s) we started to come into our own and form a viable culture. Black banks, political movements, black entertainment successfully reaching the masses, ect. We were gaining ground in this society. Creating a meaningful self sustaining culture.
So what happened?

Capitalism brehs

Regarding education, I haven't really touched on that myself in this thread, but I think that educational success depends on the student, the teacher, and the community. I DO have a problem with people saying that an all black school is automatically going to do worse than an all white school. That's probably the comment where you saw me addressing education.

I had good non-black teachers too. I work for a white boss in a corporate environment fam - nobody is advocating segregation and if they are, that ain't the team I'm on. I just want us to have a stronger sense of community and pride. I'm just sick of talking about and hearing about problems in our community without offering a solution which was the REAL premise of this thread.

and that's cool, those are some good ideas and this is the convo we need to have, we need to discuss what are the things we need to do to make black schools NOT suk

i dont think the convo should be about how to integrate and then use the level of integration as a measure of progress, that doesnt work
