...yeah this was the whole point of my post. As I said, Manchin was never going to be a Yes. So either you point that out by being combative or you bury it by being conciliatory. I'm arguing that being combative is the better path because at least you can marshal anger and direct it towards political activity. Biden's conciliatory strategy just makes him look like a weak idiot and does nothing to help the political fortunes of the Democrats. The problem is the Democratic establishment isn't willing to call out the cancerous elements within the party, they just default to the "elect more Democrats!" refrain so they can continue reaping in fundraising cash and not have to do the hard work of actually governing.

They coulda capitalized when people were kayaking outside the man's yacht just to try and get a discussion with him about the bills. There were opportunities to really load up the pressure on him.
