Not sure about that. If the Dems had 55 instead of 51 seats this does not matter and Biden passes the bill going away.
I disagree.
Remember when they tried to get the $15 minimum wage in the ARP it wasn't just Manchin (or even Sinema) that voted against it. Eight Democrats voted no on the minimum wage increase.
Eight. And there was no reason for them to do it because it needed 60 votes anyway.
So what does that tell you? Because that tells me that there are at least six--if not more--Democrats in the Senate who look at what Manchin and Sinema are doing and going
behind closed doors.
And the seats that Democrats would be trying to win in 2022 are in states like Florida, Ohio and Iowa, all states that Trump won. If the logic behind Manchin is that he has to act this way because he's in a Trump state, why would it be any different for a Dem Senator from those states? Even if you argue that Trump didn't win by as big a margin there, that still doesn't explain the excuses people make for Sinema: "Yeah, Biden won Arizona and it has another Dem Sentator, so it's trending blue, but it's not trending
that blue, so she still has to block Dem priorities to keep her seat."
