Even if he had taken them all down, did Hitler have the infrastructure and military might to maintain even half of a conquered Russia? I think not. Empires that stretch too thin collapse.

DEAR AMERICA: You Should Be Mad As Hell About This [CHARTS]

Read more: http://www.businessinsider.com/dear...l-about-this-charts-2012-6?op=1#ixzz2bu7j8L18

This from business insider has all the graphs to sum everything up.

Corporate profits as a percent of the economy also just hit an all-time high. Profits are now VASTLY higher than they've been for most of the last half-century.

If corporations are doing so well, everyone who works for them should be doing great, right? Wrong. The folks who are doing well are at the top. CEO pay is now 350X the average worker's, up from 50X from 1960-1985.

CEO pay has skyrocketed 300% since 1990. Corporate profits have doubled. Average "production worker" pay has increased 4%. The minimum wage has dropped. (All numbers adjusted for inflation).

After adjusting for inflation, average hourly earnings haven't increased in 50 years.

In other words, in the struggle between "labor" and "capital," capital has basically won.

Of course, life is great if you're in the top 1% of American wage earners. You're hauling in a bigger percentage of the country's total pre-tax income than you have at any time since the late 1920s. Your share of the national income, in fact, is almost 2X the long-term average!

It wasn't always this way ... From 1917 to 1981, the bottom 90% of wage earners in this country (blue) captured 69% of the total wage growth. The richest 10%, meanwhile, got 31% of the wage gains.

In fact, income inequality has gotten so extreme here that the US now ranks 93rd in the world in "income equality." China's ahead of us. So is India. So is Iran.

And, by the way, few people would have a problem with inequality if the American Dream were still fully intact—if it were easy to work your way into that top 1%. But, unfortunately, social mobility in this country is also near an all-time low.

And remember that huge debt problem we have—with hundreds of millions of Americans indebted up to their eyeballs? Well, the top 1% doesn't have that problem. They only own 5% of the country's debt.

And then there are taxes ... It's a great time to make a boatload of money in America, because taxes on the nation's highest-earners are close to the lowest they've ever been.

Remember when we bailed out the banks? Remember WHY we bailed them out? We bailed them out, we were told, so that the banks could keep lending to American businesses. Without that lending, we were told, society would collapse ...

So, did the banks keep lending after we bailed them out? No. Bank lending dropped sharply, and it has yet to fully recover.

Meanwhile, of course, the banks are able to borrow money FOR FREE. Because the Fed has slashed rates to basically zero.

When you can borrow money for nothing, and lend it back to the government risk-free for a few percentage points, you can COIN MONEY. And the banks are doing that. According to Institutional Risk Analytics, the "net interest margin" made by US banks in the first six months of last year was $211 Billion. Nice!

So, the 1% is doing great, and the 99% are getting the shaft, but maybe the government's stepping in to help everyone ... by building roads or something?

No public construction, education, and transportation are all falling.

It's true tho.

The main reason we don't have universal healthcare already is the fact that a lot of white people resent the idea of paying for black/hispanic/immigrants/poor people's healthcare and will resist the idea even if it'll benefit them.

If the US was as homogeneous as, say, Sweden I'm pretty sure we'd already have single payer by this point. And that's not even playing the "race card", it's just a fact that countries that are traditionally more racially/culturally homogenous have more generous welfare states.

As much as I hate to admit that personally, as a sociologist I say this is dead on.

If anything, something like a single payer health plan would reduce per person costs due to the lower risk

Free college would be a boon for the country as well; the only people benefiting from the current system work in the financial industry

Dismiss logic with political talking points brehs.

Also we need to do a few more things. Not everyone will agree on these things but its the only way.

healthcare - the way u said.

consumer debt forgiveness(1 of our biggest issues).... paid for by 100 Billion of the 200+ bill in profits that the banks made from borrowing money from us. We've been only superficially supporting the economy through consumer spending --- we've used debt since the 80's to paint that false picture.

education - excess war money invested in early childhood education. We can easily afford every kid using tablets in elementary school... higher elemetary teacher salaries to attract our smartest to teach our youngest. my son uses 1 he's 5 and a private doner paid for all the ones at that school with .00005 of the money we use on 1 laser guided missile. Economic benefit of education is underestimated.

Invest all corporate tax breaks into social programs...

criminalize private prisons - consider that institution = with slavery.

increase taxes on top 5% and lower debt through avoiding global agendas and corporate tax breaks.

immigration reform - not gonna get into that.

and these last two are only if we want to be a moral nation and are only my opinion: pay the natives what we owe them for resources - over 100 billion. free higher education for african americans and afro hispanics to any university they are accepted to (doesn't included living expenses.) .

Maybe we would just naturally make some of these changes if we banned campaign finance. gave candidates all 700k to make their case... and gave them their platform in a series of debates

Really breh? There's no other bigger problems in this country? Not taxes? Not campaign finance reform? Voting fraud? GMO labeling? Fluoride in the water? The private federal reserve? Oil companies keeping prices high and shutting down other technologies/ other fuels?

Or how about the corporate monopolized media hyping up racism so that people can't come together over real issues? The racial divide isn't as big as the media would like you to believe. It only affects low iq whites, blacks, hispanics, etc, who buy into their divide and conquer program. Smart black people and smart white people don't even think about that sh*t.

You also know that the insurance companies wrote the health care bill and premiums will and have already gone up?
As much as I hate to admit that personally, as a sociologist I say this is dead on.

Yep, people don't understand that inequalities legally enforced to one group is an automatic inequality in the system as a whole. You can't have it both ways. The white majority in this country is used to growing up with enforced inequality, remember MLKs white generation that he fought with are ones that run this country. John McCain has been a senator forever, he was opposed to an MLK holiday. People forget that Jesse Jackson was with MLK when he was killed. Who do you think runs the country? and I not talking about Obama...its that old white generation. Obama is up against the same generation that opposed equal rights for blacks in the 60s or were raised by parents from that era. That is why he faces so much opposition in the White House which in turn means he will have a hard time passing legislation that will help not only blacks but the average white person to level out the system. Trust that if he brought forth legislation that would harm blacks, it would pass ASAP.

On the bolded, you are kidding yourself dude. The media does not need to do anything, the division is already there. You are thinking like a cac that thinks that not talking about racism is going to make it go away. Cacs will bring racism to your doorstep. If we play the silence game it would be a lot worst. Obama being elected just made their inside hate come out more. I cannot work for a company that has a lot of black people at the lower level and see that blacks have a hard time moving past lower management, then act like racism doesn't exist. I cannot see that in NYC that 85-90% of those that are stopped and frisked are black or latino and act like racism doesn't exist. I cannot go to my local HS and see that another HS was created to zone the black and latino kids to other school and act like racism doesn't exist. I cannot go to a predominantly white university and experience seeing black face parties, defacing the MLK statue, racist anit-black posters everywhere on my way to class, friends being called the N word, professor at the school law saying blacks are intellectually inferior and act like racism doesn't exist. That is not having a low IQ, its being observant and dare I say smart.

first of all american capitalism defeated hitler, so point blank period every western european country owes their existence to the united states

i dont know, ask hungary, poland and all of eastern europe what an exaggerated threat the soviet union was, apparently you dont consider a country amassing tanks and planes at your border a threat
Would America have defeated hitler without everyone else that was fighting. That war was fought on many fronts...

the fuk? are you brehs smoking crack, there was no western front until the US stepped in, england was thoroughly defeated military wise and it had essentially zero offensive capability, churchill was mostly bluffing with his tough talk and only water allowed england to survive long enough until the US stepped in

of course once it became a two front war hitler had little chance, that is why it is historically correct to say that american capitalism and american industrial might defeated hitler

there are scenarios under which russia and england could have held off for a longer time because in war the defender usually has the advantage, so maybe russia and england would have kept some type of territorial integrity, but there isnt any american-less scenario under which either of them could have fought back to berlin to defeat hitler, so scandanavian countries would have remained under hitler without the US opening up the western front (except maybe finland)

and lets not forget the us was also fighting on two fronts and it defeated both enemies on both fronts

perhaps free education could be rewarded for more difficult majors such as engineering and computer science to beef up the talent we have. The education market is distorted and kind of a monopoly anyway.

However everyone having access to a degree would make that paper about as valuable as a high school diploma and then it would make the mba programs end up becoming the equivalent of a bachelors out in the market and force everyone to be in school until 23-25

If i may ask though does the worlds best talent come from the Nordic countries? I mean when people look for foreign engineering talent don't they come from germany and India?
