In all seriousness, at what point do we start saying Alchemist is the greatest producer ever?

are we talking popularity or songs that are dope? Now I'll give you Big pimping, nikka what, and dirt off your shoulder, but those other 2, I don't know. Dope tracks, but nothing that we ever called "classic" or groundbreaking. I can name 30 alchemist tracks better than those 2. Damn near Alchemist whole year of 2001 and 2002 are better than those 2 tracks.

"Come Get Me" and "Its Hot" are classics. Being able to name 30 or so better ALC songs is neither here or there. I'm saying this as someone who doesn't think that highly of "Come Get Me", but people have that as one of their favorite Jay songs. Personally, I could've listed "Party People" or "Get My Ish Off", but most folks wouldn't know what I was talking about. I also forgot to list "Is That Your Chick".

seriously. I can name no less than 15 producers with a better discography and bangers than Alchemist. as far as hip hip is concerned and STRICTLY hip hop, Alchemist has more bangers than Timbo. Add in Largue Pro and Larry Smith too. Alchemist aint no goddamn top 3,5 , or 10 all time hip hop producers. haha. that's blasphemous.
nah.

what Alchemist has done in the underground scene eclipses a ton of the dudes that were mentioned from a quality standpoint.

I was ahead of my time with this thread. Lol at DJ premier being better.

He is the truth. My only concern is the obsession with drumless beats. That shyt is mostly garbage, IMO.

He's firmly in my Top 10 and I could see the argument for higher. I think what he needs is a bonafide classic project with a top tier rapper. Alfredo with Gibbs is close but I think he can shoot higher than that

If Eminem would just pull his head out of his ass, pony up for sample clearances and keep Paul and Jimmy away, him and his DJ buddy Al could make a classic

He doesn’t do nearly as many drumless beats as people think. When he does it’s usually for the same few rappers that tend to prefer to use that production style.

He’s dropped like 5 or 6 hard beats all with drums and even 808s in the last month.

What classic rap albums has he helmed?

If he never existed what about rap production would be different?

I always thought in terms of underground he's arguable

then I read this thread:
aint no way he's better overall than Timbaland
al has longevity and a dope style but not near the amount of Highs as other producers
if you had to bring it to a top 20 battle format etc

he has hours of dope beats like dilla and madlib
but not straight classic bangers on bangers like alot of other people
