In all seriousness, at what point do we start saying Alchemist is the greatest producer ever?

Alchemist doesn't have a SINGLE world wide certified Hip Hop banger....I am talking songs like "Ruff Ryders Anthem" "It's All About The Benjamins" "Back That Asss Up" and etc...

Only Alchemist fans know about the Alc...

I know this site is super young but it's said to not to see people mention Marley Marl on here. He was always considered the greatest producer in hip hop up until the 2000's. Every time a source, xxl, ego trip, etc did a list he was number 1.
I know this site is super young but it's said to not to see people mention Marley Marl on here. He was always considered the greatest producer in hip hop up until the 2000's. Every time a source, xxl, ego trip, etc did a list he was number 1. He was every producers idol. His greatest hits is a who's who of hip hop classics.

Guys like Marley, Pete, RZA, Bomb Squad, Erick Sermon, Premier, etc did album after album full of classic material. Not just songs here and there like some of these new guys do.
I was gonna mention him. One of my favorite beats from him below.

ALC is hot but I can't call him the greatest; he's just outside the top 10 for me.

I had to mention DJ Hi Tek who IMO is ridiculous underrated:

6th Sense producer who I think we'll be mentioning among the greats years from now. Love this dude's style:

He's in my top 20 for sure. Maybe 15. He's a victim of era. No matter how good his stuff is it'll just never mean as much to me as classics.

Alc is the king of fundamentals imo.. He's produced some of the illest singles, consistent throughout his career, maybe THE MOST VERSATILE overall..
He's helped keep hip hop interesting since the 00s, but he hasnt really changed it.

-Agreed completely........while it can be argued he hasn't really had those HUGE moments/songs, he does have sort of a consistent greatness over the "hot for a year or 2" cats that might change the sound of hiphop at the time, but have no longevity. There are a lot of producers that have changed or swayed the sound of hiphop at the time, but they didn't make a lasting impression with a body of work like Alchemist has.

He rounds out my top 5 & on any given day he could crack the top 3
1-DJ Premier
2-RZA
3-Just Blaze/Old Kanye (the tie is a cop-out but I can never decide)
4-Rick Rubin
5-Alchemist
