hell no. not a knock on alc at all. he's first ballot hall of fame. there's an argument for GOAT underground producer, maybe. but overall? everyone i would put above him can match his quality AND they had mainstream/crossover success, introducing non-pop artists to pop consumers.
alc's biggest strengths are consistency and how long he's been able to maintain that consistency. i dont think that qualifies him for GOAT status. rza is a perfect example as to why. i dont think rza has a legit argument for GOAT because his run flamed out (others i would rate above him successfully adapted as times and the sound of hip hop changed). but what has alchemist done that would put him above the the run rza had from 93-98?
