In all seriousness, at what point do we start saying Alchemist is the greatest producer ever?

He's crushing the longevity b/c he's been making heat since 1999 and has gotten better over the years.

However, his peaks haven't been as high, influential, or impactful as some of his peers, for example:

RZA 1993-97
Dre 1992-96 (peak, but really 88-2005 was all heat)
Q-Tip 1990-95
Havoc 95-2000
Premier 94-98

These peaks are nearly untouchable, even if Alc continues to make dope ass beats for another decade. These producers influenced pretty much everyone (including eachother) making beats in the golden era. Obviously, Alc's impact and influence is no where near someone like RZA or Dre.

With that said, he's my favorite active producer in the game. I don't think RZA, Dre, etc. really have it in them to make consistent dope beats at this point in time.

As good as he is I don't think any of his projects stand up to the classics the other GOAT producers created. And to me that is what i value above anything when it comes to hip hop producers.

I also think his beats don't standout in the way they used to. Like they're dope but it's almost just nice background music. I don't hear many Keep It Thoros or Tha Realest from him these days. Them beats that just instantly grab you by the throat. He's on a more etherial steez these days which makes for more coherent projects but less highlights.

The 36 Chambers
Alc clearly has credentials to be top 10 (He is for me), insane amount of incredible albums in his arsenal when it comes to producer debates but he just doesn't have that 1 album that shifted rap in some shape of form....

36 Chambers, Mass Appeal, Mecca & The Soul Brother, The Chronic & The Infamous etc.

That's the only thing that prevents him for being in the conversation with the RZA, Dre, Premo, Pete Rock etc IMO.

What would you say is the best Alchemist produced project? For me i think it's probably the first Curren$y collabo.

He is at least top 3 for me with Havoc and Just Blaze. But he cranked it up something serious in the last 5 years.

Classic singles...check
Classic albums/tapes ...check
Variety of collabs...check

My nikka has worked in three different decades with people across the map. And this is with relevant rappers, not some obscure dudes that nobody has heard of. Only legend he hasnt worked with is Jay-Z. Only top tier rapper now he hasnt worked with is Wale. People seek to work with Alc.

Not many people have such a large, diverse body of work as alchemist.

From the soulful introspective tracks, to the I'm gonna punch a nikka eye out tracks to the random bangers he can make it all out. Alchemist mayve just passed Havoc. BREAK THE BANK ON REPEAT.

Post his top 5 beats

Alcs albums are lacking. Havent been a huge fan of his since he started putting the madlib influence in his stuff.

My fav al is early nyc ug al. He still drops heat but hes a single guy at heart

The other guys created their sounds while al just continued off muggs blueprint while using a piece of diff other producers vibes to round out. Al is a superior single producer, but muggs a better full album producer.
