People really think dude got that Apple exclusive for nothing. The fact that no one asked him about it is even funnier. You say you're independent but your new album is only available on one platform...doesn't that suggest you have signed paperwork with Apple (i.e. Interscope)? Lol

Dont put words in my mouth u no comprehension skill ass nikka.

Im sayin yall nikkas r spouting this "Who cares if he plant" shyt only cause he aint a drill nikka.

But if he was doing under the subgenres as mentioned or mumble rap yall wouldnt be so okay with his fake ass indie gimmick/industry push.
And what is the problem with that? Would you rather chief Keef get chances' push

Would u rather your kids listen to keef or chance

I've been saying this for years and its blantanlty obvious (the politically connected family, the constant overhype/promoting despite him being a mildly popular artist at best, etc). I just laugh when the industry just continues on this charade like he's independent and he's basically doing this all by himself. And his fans who constantly deflect

Industry connections =/= "Label Deal"

If you know the right people and sign the right paper work. Ask yourself, is signing to a label(whose only job is to really do all of this for you any way) really worth it.

What Chance did was meet the right people, shake the right hands, and sign the right paper work without taking a loan from a Major label and distributor. He basically cut out the middle man for all intents and purposes.

If Chance is a "plant" as you all say, then why isn't his brother being "planted" as well?

So until an imprint or distributor or label is tagged to his mixtapes or albums there's nothing to go on that says he isn't "indy".

Dope post @The HONORABLE SKJ .. Shoutout to all the artist sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears to get in the game when all you needed was Ari Gold and a friendship with the president

When he wins that Grammy next year, and I'll put my coli cash on it, it will be an underdog story and reinforce the narrative they've been selling us the whole time.

Just come out and be honest. Dude skipped the line on some VIP pass shyt and still claims it's "organic"

This. And, the underlying thing that bubbles under all of this is; how much of his persona is real? His "Aw shucks *kicks dirt* I'm just a kid from Chicago trying to do some good in the world"

I'm a grown man, so I could give a fukk what message a rapper is pushing, but kids Stan this dude, and a lot of his platform is spiritual/vibe and positively based, but if he's willing to perpetuate a lie like this, how clean is he really? Is any of it true? Rap is filled with contradictions and people perpetuating lifestyles they don't lead, but I'd rather you lie and say you're a gangster when you're not, than have you claim you're saved when you're not.

Fake drug dealers are bad, but crooked pastors are worse. A positive pyramid scheme is still a pyramid scheme.

Yup. I left Interscope shortly before Acid Rap came out. The most amazing thing about it is the unwritten, unsaid agreement Interscope has with multiple sites, publications, and artists not to say shyt about it. You're never going to see some "investigative" piece detailing his ties to various MAJOR players and Interscope's involvement. Hell from what I've heard back when Chance kinda took a shot at Kendrick's verse on NMPILA, label folks asked Cornrow Kenny not to sneak diss about it. Kendrick knows, hell they're on the same label.
:mjlol:

For the record I have no beef with Chance. I really liked Acid Rap and Coloring Book is cool (not in my top 10 tho lmao). He has built a solid fanbase and is a good dude. My prob is moreso the bullshyt that surrounds him and how it's peddled by the media. Best believe that if he wins a Grammy he's going to give a little speech about being independent while men in suits chuckle and clap.

this is all bullshyt. lol. Chance isn't signed to anyone, especially not Interscope. having a deal with Apple doesn't mean you're with Interscope.

Ain't no way a new "independent" artist is getting Kanye fukking West, Future, Jeremiah, and Jay Electronica on an album. Hell Talib Kweli couldn't even get Jay-Z's feature on the Get By remix cleared and he was on a major at the time.

I thought it was obvious when he was bubbling with Childish Gambino a few years ago.

Spike Lee kind of exposed him too when Chance was dissing Chiraq
Can you elaborate on the Talib story? Didn't know that
