He didn't name names but it was on his Twitter. After the song came out he tweeted something like "that was weak." It wasn't a diss IMO, it was him being honest and striving for greatness. I'm a Kendrick stan but while his verse starts cool it ultimately is too long and just doesn't fit the album or song. Just...aimless and not what you'd expect.

Chances was courted by TDE but never signed. I don't think there's real tension there, Chance has dapped Kendrick before. But Chance is also trying to make the case that he's one of the biggest rappers and he's very competitive.
Ahh thanks for the info and facts Kendricks verse started to become senseless jibber jabber. Kanye completely washed him on that song.

Dont put words in my mouth u no comprehension skill ass nikka.

Im sayin yall nikkas r spouting this "Who cares if he plant" shyt only cause he aint a drill nikka.

But if he was doing under the subgenres as mentioned or mumble rap yall wouldnt be so okay with his fake ass indie gimmick/industry push.

Cause there's plenty of the mumble rap being pushed already, how many Chance The Rappers are there really out there, getting the same type of publicity as the mumblers? I agree with what you're saying, but the only reason why we're willing to give Chance a pass is because we need more positivity in music.

From what I can tell, he had connections on connections from a long time. Is that a bad thing? No. :yeshrug: That's how you're supposed to play, that's why they encourage artists to go network with people -- to get those connections to get you into those rooms. Chance just so happened to have many of those around him at Level 1 (from what it seems).

If it's true that Chance is actually signed and isn't independent, then that's disappointing and more or less undermines the exact message he's trying to send out. I think you can reach his popularity being 100% independent, but it takes a really good team to get there, among the obvious sentiment of working your ass off every day. This also depends on what he's signed on as. Does he have a distribution deal, or is he signed on as an actual talent? There's so many questions that could be asked, but none of us have his contract in front of us and the only thing we can go off on is word of mouth.

All I know is though, if the people love it (which they do) and it's a breath of fresh air... Then it doesn't matter where it comes from, in the grand scheme of things. All that matters is that it's out there for people to enjoy. That's the point.

@ bolded U just had someone in Raury who like chance caters to you "positive music only" nikkas. nikka was getting publicity and funny enough was on Chances album to this year.

Theres nothing wrong with having connects. But when you parade yourself as a rarefeat for indie artist and what many like u should strive to be it's a problem.

@2nd bolded:mjlol: at people love it. The shyt has probably not even sold 100k as its first week sales was only 38 k. Considering all the love and cosigning he been getting 38 is not impressive, infact that's poor sales. hell ATCQ did better than him.

How many times is this type of thread going to get made? When is everyone going to realize it's about $$$. If you have someone backing you to get placements at SXSW and other showcases, it puts you on the radar and shows you're serious. The dumbest thing any artist can do is say screw all of that, I'm going to do it the old fashion way and "get discovered". News flash that shyt don't happen. Wendy Day has a whole course on youtube on how everything works for those that are interested.
