Mary Magdalene, tbh, is debatable whether she was a whore or not. Mostly she is characterized as a whore, which is a theory of some people and mine, because she was the second in charge next to Jesus because she was his lover. He loved her more than his other disciples, and they were actually jealous of her. They made a point to write her book out of the bible, and for decades the church has mis-characterized her as a prostitute.

I just gave you my side of the story (I follow Islam), but the material is out there for you to look at. There's a lot of confusion about religion and some have been corrupted by man for the self interest of a few.

I'll tell you this though, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all have the same message if you look at them precisely. Believe in God, do good, stay away from evil and so on. But as I said, men are inclined to do evil and some holy texts were 'edited' by men for their own interest.

I gotta give you the :salute: though for not jumping on that atheism bandwagon. You believing in God as the Creator shows you're an intelligent being.

I read another interesting paper on a blog that actually suggested that Jesus may have staged Judas' kiss. That was mindblowing for me to think about. That perhaps he staged the idea of this dude ratting him out so he could die a martyr, since he knew he was going to be killed anyway.

If you don't have the answers to these questions wouldn't it be wiser to just reserve judgement until more evidence is available instead of just throwing that hypothesis into our gap of knowledge?

How does believing in an untestable hypothesis that only brings up more questions than it does answers make a person more intelligent than someone who chooses to temporarily suspend his/her judgement?

If anything it's giving up intellectually and hitting the easy button. Claiming that a supernatural all knowing/all wise being created everything doesn't help answer the questions of how/why.

isn't everyone? :leon:

(seriously)

Anyone who subscribes to one particular religion is automatically rejecting the authenticity of the various Gods from all other religions (both modern and ancient)

I mean could just say yeah I am, but it wouldn't really be saying anything when everyone else is also.

You don't know ANYTHING about religions do you? The three major religions all worship the same god.

Guys I appreciate the knowledge being passed down to me, keep going

I'm kinda curious about all this myself. I started a thread asking a question about evolution and got called a bible thumping troll. Then I started a thread asking about God and got called an atheist troll. :wtf:

Maybe this just isn't the place to learn about such things.

I'd consider myself agnostic. I don't really know. If God exists, obviously he's not manifest, but why would he be? Since we can't see him/it, I can understand why people don't believe but I also understand why people do because there's too much order in the world for it to all be one infinitely big coincidence.

What does it have to do with the rejection of the thousands of Gods that have existed before those 3 religions existed?

It's hard to ask questions on the internet about god, the best thing to do is call it a philosophical discussion.... That will bring more people in. There are some reasonable atheists but the annoying ones shout them down (same with christians).

I was reading some drug trip journals on Erowid a few weeks ago and a guy was freaking out from some thoughts he had on some drug I was thinking about trying, I can't remember the name haha. But anyway he freaked out because he had the thought about afterlife.... but what comes after the afterlife? Afterlife cannot be infinite. That idea kind of freaked me out too, because I've thought about it before--after seeing beetlejuice. It's like what the fukk happens after afterlife? Hypothetically if there is an afterlife, and we are conscious during it, what happens after that? Because the universe has to end at some point.

fukk.
