I would like to know , who is jesus, why do people praise him, my MAIN question would be is there actual evidence that Jesus existed. I am not tryin to start anything or question anyones beliefs. I dont want no problems.I could have just googled it but I want ur views.
Also, the bible. Why is the bible so heralded? Did God write the bible? Is Jesus supposed to be God's Son?
I BELIEVE IN GOD. But Im not sure about Jesus. I definetly dont believe in the Bible. Can someone sway me on why I should. Is Religion really sheeps of people following because they know no better? Im asking. I would be grateful if someone would educate me.
I am not a christian, but I was raised one and went to church pretty regularly, even worked in the church as a teenager, so I'll answer some questions for you.
I dunno if there is proof Jesus existed, but to be honest, I don't believe Jesus was the son of god anyway. He was a hippie dude who believed in peace and kindness and his followers began a new religion based on his beliefs. Jesus' life is what inspired the New Testament--the Christian bible. The Old Testament is what comprises the Jewish holy book.
Jesus was a guy that never said he was the son of god, or said he was holy or said he performed miracles, or damned people, etc. He just believed in loving people and forgiveness, and he believed that god was a loving god, not the tyrant that people before him believed. He created a new religion of a loving god. So, the Christians that believe, for example, that god hates "fags" are not believing the same that Jesus did. Ironically.
IMO god did not write the bible, but I guess this is what is supposed to be the belief. God wrote it through people like the disciples and the others. Divine Inspiration, that is. But I think it's a book of Christian parables to guide a person's life.
I was a christian for a long time, until I was a teenager, and in college I did a lot of research into other religions and struggles with my nonbelief of an afterlife and doubt of an anthropomorphic god led me to become an agnostic.
My belief is now pantheist, which means I believe all is god. I believe all living things are god. It's a hard belief to explain--it's not atheism. But I believe that you and I have the spirit in us, and I believe that our energy exists when we die. But no, haha, there is no dude judging us and there is no consciousness when we die.
I really enjoy philosophical discussion, but usually the atheists ruin it and assume that everyone is pushing god on them. Vigilant atheists are just as bad as vigilant christians.
