It's on Marlboro Pike right down from Penn Station Shopping Center, going in the DC direction. It's on the Penn Station side of Marlboro Pike. It's almost across from Popes Funeral Home, but not quite as far down Marlboro Pike.

Oh damn, I actually didn’t know they were developing new stuff near Penn Station SC :ohhh:

From your perspective what is the difference between NW and SE nikkas

NW nikkas are generally responsible for setting off the latest DMV street fashion trends and be rocking the freshest gear. They tend to be about their money and have a strong hustler mentality. They usually talk a lil faster than most other DC nikkas and they’re the most cocky of all DC nikkas, plus they tend to have a center of the world complex about them (“Uptown Run The Town”). They tend to be exposed to different cultures more often, so I guess you can call NW nikkas more “cosmopolitan” than SE, NE, and SW nikkas.

SE nikkas are generally more grimy and gully than their NW counterparts, NW nikkas sometimes view SE nikkas as dusty, bummy, or country but SE nikkas usually have a chill dress code...They be rocking DMV fashion well but they don’t get as dressy as NW nikkas. Funny as it seems, SE nikkas don’t get as hostile towards Maryland nikkas as NW nikkas since SE nikkas be moving into MD and like to do some mall shopping and grocery shopping here in PG while MD nikkas got family in SE and every once in a while handle business there. The SE version of the DC accent got a stronger slur than the NW version and they arguably got the most quintessential DC accent. SE nikkas are generally more chill and laid-back compared to NW nikkas who like to be on-the-go a lot. SE nikkas be heavy into that gunplay life more so than their NW brethren.

Most NW nikkas and SE nikkas usually don’t go into each other’s hoods that much nor do they even hit up each other’s side of town frequently. For example, my ex-girlfriend is from the Soufside and she rarely ever ventures anywhere north of Gallery Place unless it’s to Howard where she’s a member of their Upward Bound. Both sides are completely alien to the other...They’ll tend to cross paths with each other Downtown or down Gallery where most nikkas throughout the DMV like to post up at.

I remember people saying that as bad as most of Northwest east of Rock Creek Park was back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, a lot of NW nikkas were lowkey shook of being anywhere near Southeast and/or didn’t really trust SE nikkas. SE nikkas knew NW nikkas were the high rollers and decked out hustlers and rocked the freshest gear, so a lot of SE nikkas viewed them as food.

Basically for the OTers, Northwest is to DC what Harlem/The Heights are to NYC and Southeast is to DC what Brooklyn is to NYC.

Is oxon hill the hood? I was over by national harbor like this shyt nice as hell

Depends on where in Oxon Hill you are since it’s a large area. National Harbor has always been nice and is generally safe outside of a few occasions of fukkery like that time nikkas were riding through NH on dirt bikes and this other time where somebody got shot at one of the restaurants there (can’t remember if dude lived or not). The parts of Oxon Hill bordering Glassmanor/Southview and Eastover be hood, along with the parts along St. Barnabas Rd heading into Temple Hills, and the area where Rivertowne Shopping Center is no stranger to ratchetry even though it was worse back in the day. I think people use 210 as the boundary between the safe spots of Oxon Hill and the turnt spots. IMO, OH isn’t as grimy as Suitland or Temple Hills but it’s no Bowie neither.

I'm from where Petey come from
Lol real live I’m not gon hold you breh, but I’ve been somewhat of a transient in my own county :russ: I was born in Cheverly at PG Hospital in 1992 and used to live in City Line towers (now called Ashton Heights) in Suitland right across the street from the DC side of Southern Ave, Park Berkshire ‘round Forestville, and briefly in Northeast DC (but as an infant) from ‘92 to ‘98. From ‘99 to ‘02, I used to live in Penn Brooke Terrace in District Heights (this was when that old mobile home dealership was still there off of Silver Hill Rd and when PETCO and that toy store at Penn Station Shopping Center, Shakey’s Pizza, Eckhert, and the Black Eyed Pea were still around). Then from ‘02 til ‘07, I lived in Walker Mill and finished elementary school at Oakcrest, went to WM Middle, and Central High for 9th grade.

Having said that, if there’s one hood I’d claim it’s Walker Mill. Had the best childhood and early teenhood memories there :wow::mjcry: It was a chill lil hood, I lived in Shady Glen Terrace. It was still a strong sense of community there and all the kids would be outside getting into some shyt while the older folks did their thing and even took turns keeping tabs on us. Used to go to the lil local community center spot we all called “Top Court” to explore the woods, crash cookout/BBQ functions, throw birthday parties, play around, etc. That hood ass 7-Eleven on the intersection of Central Ave & Shady Glen Dr. was like the neighborhood corner store :mjlol: Walker Mill was also when I first learned how to ride the Metrobus by myself. Lived in a nice lil wooden townhouse, that’s when my mom was in her mid-20s and she became a homeowner. We used to hit up that distribution center in the cut near the Home Depot that had a lot of food, cooking ware, and snacks you could get, used to get my favorite box of cookies there...shyt was a gold mine since most of the area was pretty much a food desert save for that Safeway up the street in Seat Pleasant. First time I’ve played around with pit bulls and shyt. I could get into a lot more breh. I’ve heard Walker Mill’s gotten more ratchet nowadays tho, even the 7-Eleven got more nikkas posted up out there nowadays too whenever I drive by late at night. Nearly all of the people I grew up with were long gone by 2007, that was the year I moved out to Clinton.

High key, I would love to go back in time and relive that era of my life again breh, especially 2005. Life was just too good :mjcry:

Damn cuz you jye like got me goin down memory lane an shyt real live.... Ortho Williams was the dealship and before they had RV’s it was a Buick dealership. Before Penn Station it was jus woods and Parkland Bowling Alley (RIP) :mjcry:
That Shakey’s was the shyt back in the day too. The 24 hr CVS on Silver Hill Rd used to be the Jerry Lewis Movie theater :wow:
shyt changed in PG around 89/ 90 with the influx of drugs an shyt :francis:
Before that nikkaz thought they was doin sumthin when they moved out to Largo/ Kettering, Tantallion, Mitchellville (It was Landover before 87) :heh:

1.) Lmao had to look back twice cuz I thought you said Jeepers :russ: I haven’t been to Jasper’s since 2010.

2.) Any differences between us are subtle but maybe our accent is slightly more country (a lot of us have family ties to Southeast and SE nikkas tend to have a very strong slur in their accent compared to other Black Washingtonians); our fashion is similar but back in the 80’s and 90’s it was more distinguishable; young PG nikkas have cars tend to have a higher car ownership than young DC nikkas; I think PG nikkas tend to be better adept at the art of Code-Switching when it comes to dealing with workplace shyt and white people than their DC counterparts (basically switching Ebonics/AAVE off and turning on General American/“proper speak”); etc.

3.) MoCo nikkas can be cool, but some of them can be fake asf.

As for Bmore nikkas, they can be cool and I even made a few friends from there ever since I attended UMES. Sometimes we’ll joan on each other but it’s usually just good fun  I’ve grown to like some Bmore Club music but I still think they dance and talk funny lol and their slang be having me :dead: Lor Scoota was about to be the next best thing to come outta Baltimore smh.

4.) Occupations with the Most Job Openings in Washington, DC
Oh shyt fam, I forgot you attended UMES. I wish i could do an AMA about that but no gives a fukk lol

Idk breh, I think it’s something in that Potomac water :wow: And prolly those ancestral Carolinas genetics too cuz them Carolina females be :ohlawd:

I think PG females are cool with Bmore dudes sometimes but they generally hate Bmore females. At my school, PG girls are a lil choosy when Bmore nikkas try to spit game with them, sometimes it works, sometimes it don’t. I decided to try my luck and shoot my shot with this bad Bmore shawty I’ve been lowkey crushin on for a month and she’s kinda feeling me too and agreed to a date so we’ll see what happens :ehh: It’ll be my first time talking to a Bmore chick so it’ll be interesting. I think she’s from Northeast Baltimore. We both go to the same school.

Lmao that’s cuz we city-country slim :myman: Them Southern Maryland and Eastern Shore nikkas are a whole nother level of country.
I’ve come to realize during my time here that most MD nikkas are country outside of the immediate Balt-Wash area. I got family in Frederick, P.G., Hoco, Moco, Anne Arundel and Charles county. Frederick and Charles County nikkas are mad country

There be a lil something something around National Harbor, MGM, a few lounges here and there, spots that play grown & sexy GoGo, spots where local and rising comedians do stand ups, strip clubs, lil hood clubs in the cut, house parties, etc. Just gotta be in the know for some of those and be on the lookout for promotions on the radio stations or on IG. Other than that, most of the region’s nightlife is in DC, Arlington, Alexandria, and Silver Spring.
My girl and her friends are all from PG/DC and we always go out in DC, I’ve never heard of any spots like u street or Adams Morgan In PG. I know there’s stuff out in Arlington and Silver Spring too. But national harbor makes sense

This reminds me of how East and west Baltimore used to be. Over east nikkas were considered grimier compared to the over west cats. But that was all about dress code. We were known for wearing that army surplus gear. Fatigues and Carhatts and shyt. Jean shorts over sweat pants. The west side dudes stayed fresh in Polo, Nautica, Hilfiger, etc. Even Iceberg and Avirex. But come to find out there were more hustlers over there where on the east side nikkas just sold drugs.

You might meet a chick from over west and she found out you were from over east and it was
:scusthov:

Even tho they only lived 6 miles away :heh:

Plus those west side nikkas had more access to clothes with Mondawmin Mall being right in the middle and Security Mall being close. I have family on the west side that stayed fresh so I was trying to be like them
