How’s the food? How fresh are the produce? Any street food and markets? How’s the seafood?

Sometimes you’ll hear about the crime but is it really that bad down there?

Is everybody filled with a sense of life, happiness, and enjoyment even in the hoods and the impoverished areas? I’ve always noticed that about some “third world” societies.

How’s the youth culture there compared to the States?

You see a lot of American brehs of all ages living good down there?

The Local food is good and fresh. I used to not like Dominican Food because the New York shyt is greasy. But it's not like that except for the 100 peso shyt you buy in the Chinese/ Criolla spots. You can buy produce striaght off someone's stall. In fact I'm eating a Pineapple now.

BUT a lot of food that you buy in stores like Jumbo is actually imported american shyt., In fact Lider is the local walmart brand and technically they don't have Walmart here but Jumbo is partially owned by Walmart.

The Weather is great

When I first got here I drank tap water by mistake but I was told not to do it. I didn't get sick but the locals don't drink the water. That being said I take Ice water.

The women are great not all of them are dimes but there's a lot here per captia

There's technically no nightlife right now. There's house parties and I go to Club Mixler on Monday nights. but there's a curfew.

Personally I've never felt unsafe here. I'm sure it's wild here in fact I met a dude who said he was a wild Cowboy ( a Dominican gang in New York) who got deported.

Kids be out at all times in the streets it's like the US back in the 90's. You better ask for ID to make sure you don't deal with a youngin'.

Yes there's a couple of bum ass nikkas down here but most everybody is doing good like I said 1400 is a decent number down here you can easily have less but if you have less than 1200 you've veering into bum territory. Because as an expat you'll spend more than locals and you can't be always bumming beers and cigars from the other expats.

You need a dominican cedula (i.d) to get any job in the DR that pays "decent". Theres some call centers that will probably let you slide with just a passport. Mind you, working at a call center will atleast pay you around $2.50 per hour. About 100-120 pesos. Theres some that pay up to 150 pesos per hour too.

Beside working at the call center, you could be a tourist guy or work at the resort breh

You got to keep in mind that shyt is bad down here. Tourism is barely holding things together and I guess that people are sending stuff from overseas. But there isn't a culture of sending stuff as it is in Jamaica it's more about sending money. I saw a chick spend 20 USD at the grocery store today.


I wouldn't count on getting a job down here. One other knock on the DR is the internet is kinda slow here. Slower than Kenya maybe even slower than Tanzania. I wouldn't come here if I had to remote work.
