It’s pretty much the same visa process in Colombia. I’m low key concerned but I’d want my visa as soon as I town down but CP time.

Same thing with me I can save a fortune living in Colombia I spend around 2 stacks a month here and I’m not paying rent.

Frankly it just don’t make sense to stay in the states. Now They’re talking about fukking with VA benefits, I have to be ready for the rug pull.

Absolutely document the process of getting a visa in Japan, Again I was told they were really zenophobic but it seems like you can get a visa easily.
I’m applying for my benefits now. Trump is fukking up everything. I know I shouldn’t depend on it. Luckily, it’s something I don’t have now and everything will be a bonus.

I’ll drop the whole process here. I know we have many brothers thinking about making a move outside the states.

They are very xenophobic but I’ll be in an “Americanize” island. All the expats you talk to will tell you they talk shyt all day but don’t do anything. It’s in their culture.
:yeshrug:
As long as they don’t affect myself, my Wife or my children, I’m good. It’s when you work directly with them you realize the shyt they talk. Especially if you end up learning the language.

Salutes breh, I wish you and your fam a smooth transition, success and prosperity.

I did an expat assignment with my wife in India for about 8 months in late 2023-early 2024. We were prepared to thug it out for 2 years, but her company ended the assignment early. We got to visit 10 countries in Asia and really grow our bond. I can't imagine how it would've been with kids
That’s beautiful. Experiences is all we have. Seeing how the world lives is eye opening. I can only imagine what India was like for 8 months. Pre marriage I always wanted to visit Goa.

India is low on my list. If I die before visiting.
:manny:
We plan on hitting up Korea and China at least. If we can get our parents out for the summer to babysit, then we want to his Southeast Asia. Bali for sure as well. Australia and Philippines is low on our list for the five years we expect to be here.

I’ve spent 3+ months in Thailand and visited Cambodia. I’m very interested in Vietnam.
:lupe:
I don’t care for Bali. Doing it for the Wife. I know it will be a bunch of drunk Aussies and PAWGs everywhere. I’m not about watching the fukkery nor trying not to look at fat booty Aussies.

Yes Sir. Schools are here are international and relatively cheap. For both it should be under $1800. Rent will be cheaper than my mortgage. I haven’t looked into the electricity, water or internet. Food seems to be cheaper unless I shop on post.

Overall, I think we will save money outside of paying directly out of pocket for school. The up front costs will be crazy but we are good with it.

The Wifey and I want to learn Japanese. I heard it’s difficult but would be nice to attempt regardless. We may want to be out here forever or at least until the kids graduate high school.

I’m looking forward to it.
The commissary is more expensive than regular stores?

That’s crazy.

I was gonna take a job as a manager in the commissary just imagine if I got laid off in Japan.

We lived in Hyderabad and hit like 4 or 5 cities across India where her coworkers were. Definitely a culture shock in a multitude of ways but it was a beautiful country with nice people. I woulda did a thread and documented it but this site too ignorant

Thailand was our favorite place to visit. It was the only trip we used a travel agency for but some of the Bangkok itinerary was weak, particularly the train market. Phuket was beautiful. Our guide from Bangkok still hits up, she had a half black daughter and my wife did the little girl’s hair.

I highly recommend Australia and New Zealand. I stayed in Sydney, Auckland and Melbourne for about 10 days about a year ago. Caught an NBL game, did some wine tasting in NZ. Plus I stayed by Coogee Beach :whoo:
Australia got some beautiful women of all colors

Pro Tip for US veterans with service connected disabilities

The Foreign Medical Program will ship your meds to any country that you go to.

This is very important in some African countries where they get their Meds made in Egypt, India and China.

I personally never had a problem even getting generics in Africa but there was that incident in the Gambia where they got bad cold medication for kids from India.

Even if you’re not service connected go to the VA tell them you’re indigent and get a full check up and any Meds that you need You can at least get free care as a Veteran and free medication.

If the VA agrees that you need the medication they’ll ship it to you in the Foreign Medical Program

Just fill out the form on the VA website.
I found out that the VA does not ship meds to veterans.

I was told this by Markell TV a travel trick bum living in Medellin.

additional investing advice:

REIT Index Funds and ETFs

ProsCons
• This option generally offers much lower fees.• Your chances of getting outsized returns are probably tiny.
• It's easy to get your money in and out whenever you want.• Many people may consider it a less exciting investment.
• Well-diversified options are easy to find.• You'll have less control.

Some of the most respected investors of all time have preached low fees, diversification and a long-term approach.

REIT index funds and ETFs offer all of those things. (REIT stands for Real Estate Investment Trust.)

Just like crowdfunding real estate, this option gives you a number of choices as a consumer. Some REIT offerings are concentrated in very few properties. Others offer exposure to a variety of different properties and locations.

Instead of locking up your money for years, you can buy and sell REIT shares any time the market is open. There’s no penalty for selling early.

This is a less risky approach than some other options. But the returns with REITs, although not guaranteed, can still be great. According to Nariet’s index of publicly-traded REITs, they outperformed with 11.6% annual returns for the 20-year period ending December 2019 compared to 6.1% for the S&P 500.

Airbnb Plus lessons:

Avoid Airbnb’s in buildings that are complete airbnb’s if you’re a digital nomad.

Usually the internet is slooooow. Because they put too many connections on the same modem.
To spell this out I mean when you see several different Airbnb listings in the same building. I know Cali there’s several all Airbnb buildings and I stayed in two of them the internet was janky in one they had somekind of co working or business running in an apartment next door that slowed the internet dramacally in fact they moved because it.

Expat Pro tip:

No dirty macking.

I was hanging out with some passport bros one of them was a Jon B. type of white boy and the other was a lightskinned nikka nerd. Three baddies showed up. White boy was looking hard despite getting a number from a chick working at Juan Valdez coffee shop.

Of course the baddest darkest one low key chose up on the white boy. The nikka Nerd didn’t say nothing so I took the short one. They had a birthday party for the flyest one but she was dressed crazy super thotty outfit so we didn’t know if they were hoes or “good girls”. over the course of the night we thought they were non hoes and the baddest one just dressed like a thot.

They were there for a short while so I told the nikka nerd to shoot his shot at the other tall chick he was mumbling and she hit us with the wanda style I’m ret ta’ Go. She dipped and my girl and the other thot dressed chick stayed. We got cabs and nikka nerd leaned in to the short chick for a kiss.

I addressed it in a voice note and Jon B. said he did the same to his chick so he could’ve just being nice.

That being said as an expat you can’t do shyt like that because dudes who travel back and forth is gonna assume that you’re dirtymacking their chick so there’s absolutely no reason to say anything at all to a chick that deals with a passport bro

As an expat you have home court advantage and have access to many girls so don’t go behind a dude who comes down a couple of times a year.
