Breh do you own land and a home in Africa?
I have three apartments in Africa but no land Yet. I was thinking about Purchasing some Land in Arusha but haven't pulled the trigger acquring land legally in Africa is tricky. And it's hard to öwn" the land in the same sense as america. You buy some land and the local people stil have grazing rights water rights and they can pass through.

Travel EDC.

Although crime is rare in tourist areas you may want to keep a cell phone, a card and some cash in a runners band. A runners band is a band that you where over or even under your shorts that has small pockets. You can put a lot of shyt in those pockets and it will look like you have nothing in them. That way if someone snatches your phone, you get pick pocketed, or straight up robbed you still have some money a phone and a card on you in an emergency.

Also I personally don't trust hotel safes. I had a buddy who got locked out of his safe. What I suggest is getting a portable safe, just big enough for your laptop, wallet and other things that you don't want to go missing. usually it's a combination lock on the safe and you can secure it with a small chain on wire like pacsafe and lock again either key or combination lock.
If you have something bulky the Pacsafe exomesh is great

Ghana is on the bucket list.

That being said I heard some negative stuff about Ghana but I must go to check it out for myself.

But I will say that East and South Africa is much cooler. You go to Ghana and the power goes out you're done.
:whoo: guess I do more looking into other countries in Africa

This thread is all about finding the best place for you. On the planet.

I'm going off what I heard not seen however from people with multiple years in Ghana.

I heard it was Hot but I haven't had that many people tell me that it was unbearable, there's a white guy who lives in Sosua in the DR that says that Pattaya in Thailand is waaaay hotter than Sosua is.

Also I heard that there's an "resettlement industry" for ADOS repats meaning dudes who might either straight up scam you or overcharge the hell out of you. And although Ghana was never a communist country I hear that years of socialism effects people and how they act.

There was one dude with 20 years on the ground who basically said don't expect a Ghanian woman to be loyal to you I can try to find it it's long but he was the only person I know who talked about it.

In short from what I heard that there's a lot of similarites to Nigeria, but there's a breh from DC in Nigeria now and he seems to love it

On the low I don't know why but Snail farming is a lucrative side hustle in Africa just like beekeeping is. It looks like Bees are dying out all over the place driving up the price of Honey, Needless to Say Snail farming and Beekeeping doesn't require much land or resources if you have some money and know how you can clean up.

Now for me personally Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana in that order are go to countries for me. The infrastructure is more conducive to having a soft landing and their economies (except for Botswana) are larger. It's less hot and they have more mature trade links with the west so you'll find non local stuff there easier.

Airline Pro Tip. If you're a service connected veteran and you have a VA ID card you can go thru the handicap line with TSA this works domestically and internationally.

More budget hacks. Put a price tracker on Priceline, Kayak, Google Flights and any other third party app that you use to track flights. the Price tracker will tell you the best time to book a flight, You can save a grip on travel this way however the downside is that You have to biy once the emails tell you it's a great deal.

You can also search nearby cities you may be able to save a lot of money by going to certain "Hub and spoke cities"with more competition and renting a car and driving to your destination.

When renting a car NEVER buy insurance from the third party site, It has mad loopholes and expensive. Buy the insurance from the counter from the rental agency itself.

One final tip about cars, unless it's super busy and there's not many cars on the lot get a subcompact, You can get an upgrade from the lot attendent if you ask nicely. It's no skin off the attendant's nose all he cares about is ensuring that the cars are rotated.

That being said Turo is cheaper than most car rental agencies.

@Wiseborn Any words of wisdom for traveling to Nairobi? I already know I need to get a sim card from struggling without one when I visited Tanzania last year. Anything other info you can pass along would be much appreciated.

Sure what do you want to know? You should be able to get a sim card with your passport. I suggest going with Safaricom most people have that and you can put money on your phone and send it to people to pay bills.

If you use it for months you will even accumulate points which you can use as cash.

I was there for two years (going back sometime next year) anything you need to know including where to stay where to eat and where to shop I can tell you.

- Hotel recommendations? (I'm arriving late at night so I don't want to deal with the hassle of getting the key for an airbnb)
- Should I set up transportation from the airport before hand?
- Can I set up Mpesa at the airport?
- Night life options?
- Any thoughts on Kenyan women?

Peronally I'd get a well reviewed Superhost Airbnb if I were you, but If you insist on a Hotel I'd stay either at the Crowne near the Airport or Lotos Inn and Suites in the Westlands.

I'd avoid driving in Nairobi personally Uber and InDriver works fine. You can get a cab at the airport to any Hotel in the Area.

Technically you can set up Mpesa at the Airport but I would do it at a standalone Safaricom store at one of the malls. You can put money on your card right there. That being said you don't have to do this if you're staying for a week or less and staying in Hotels and eating at restaurants.

The main hotspots for Nightlife is in the Westlands and The Havana Bar is cool to hang out at and people watch and Brew Bistro is the poppinest club in Nairobi.

If you want to go to a strip club Liddo's and Applebee's is the best ones however Applebee's is in the hood.

Generally speaking any Kenyan woman is fine and they'll treat you very nice, But You might want to avoid Kikuyu women they have a repuation of being Gold diggers. Luo women have the biggest asses. Basically most Luo women look like thicker versions of Lupita Nyongo.

Try to get with women who have a job and don't let them monopolize your time. Check out the Giraffe and Elephant sancturary. You might be too big to ride the ostrich but you can take a girl out there and she can ride it.

Hit up Two Rivers Mall it's the flyest Mall in East Africa and probably the flyest Mall that you've been to. They have an amusement park right at the mall.

Any more questions just ask.

It seems like this thread has been dramatically shortened. Last I checked this thread was 31 pages long now it's 14 pages.

I dropped a lot of game in this thread that I don't want to repeat.
