"Political power" is meaningless as a term since it's not attached to any tangible policies. Don't vote based on health care? You're not going to be enjoying any tax cuts if your ass is dead.

I think OP (who I had to block, so I can navigate this thread without crashing my computer) is touching on the right sentiment, but he's being a little obtuse.

The democratic party shouldn't abandon its ideals, but like I said earlier, they're due to reprioritize. Illegal immigration can't be the central issue because its something republican voters feel way more passionately about then democrats.

I mean when you mention the subject, a liberal is thinking "Ahhh yeah. Illegal immigration, I don't see why we shouldnt let more immigrants into this country. After all this country was built on immigrants"

Whereas the conservative is thinking " This is the end of 'Merica!! We need to take vigilant action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

You can't counter that kind of visceral reaction. Just focus on other things like economics.

They need to drop the trans thing completely. Focus less on LGBT rights unless Trump enacts some legislation.
Muslims will always be important in the national dialogue.
Especially because Trump is trying to deny them basic American rights.

I've called out Democrats for being hypocrites for getting mad at trump for his immigration policy when Obama deported more Mexicans than Bush.

Why? Because they have a better economic/labor message that's stated purpose is to actually helps people in that class do better and elevate to a position where they aren't going to have to compete and those jobs will pay/treat them better.

Labor protection policies help ALL workers. This includes black workers.

But you don't actually care about helping black folk. You just think this gives your side a chance to win without any long term direction or other policy.

Well it depends which Europeans, laws were passed in the 20's to reduce European immigration but it was really about stopping non English speaking eastern and southern Europeans and Jews
