Nah, I live in the south. Democrats are plenty patriotic. It was different while I was out west. Being a democrat isn't monolithic.

And to your first point, we should legislate against certain discrimination unless you are also saying it's race/religion over country and that completely at odds with our second point about nationalism. Unless you are saying nationalism is AND should be Pro White/Christian.

Another phenomenon we are seeing is that the traditional liberal bastion in the Midwest is getting more conservative. Something isn't right. Dems have to figure out how they let that happen.

If you look at the primaries in the midwest, Bernie Sanders overwhelmingly won in the majority of the counties. Hilary would win like a single county in an entire state, but it was the one with the major city, so she got the primacy.
The problem is, Hilary's a republican. So the majority of the state still felt the bern, they just didn't want to vote for Hillary, meanwhile their conservative rustbelt compatriots were in a frenzied populist fervour stirred up by a demagogue, and their energy behind their candidate far out-weighed the tepid, lukewarm response mid-western democrats felt toward a sham dnc candidate like Hillary.

The democratic party doesnt actually stand for a damn thing... its just that we have an incredibly diverse country, that we have to neatly segment into 2 squarely opposed sides. So 1 side represents the white power structure and the other side represents "everyone else"

This is dog and pony. Republicans actively make illegal immigrants a part of the discussion. It was the jumping off point for Trump's campaign and has been one of the most controversial parts of his presidency. If you're suggestion is that democrats should merely ignore something that's in the national forefront your being daft.

Illegal immigration disproportionately affects black people because of the factors that place black people in the same shytty job market as illegal immigrants. Deporting illegals really doesn't do much to help the standing of blacks in this country.

Fixing the systemic and cultural issues that plague us will do more than parroting white supremacist ideals regarding immigration.

I invariably side with workers over the interests of capital. Undocumented immigrants get hired because their labor benefits capital and business owners -- they can be hyper-exploited because of their tenuous legal position.

It needs to be made much easier for workers to organize.

If there's an issue with it, it lies with the businesses doing the hiring. I'm not going to attack undocumented immigrants for getting hired and fuel rhetoric that divides and feeds into racist attitudes between factions of workers.
