Most of Teddy Riley beats sound like some Jimmy Jam and Terry beats...
The production on "Nasty" is as New Jack Swing as it gets.
And secondly, nobody is revising history. I said earlier that Whitney’s vocal talent is unmatched. That’s a fact. It’s also a fact that Whitney’s musical output is subpar and has generally been considered subpar/average. This is the same Whitney that was getting booed at awards shows in the 80s for being too commercial and watered down and pop sounding. That’s a fact. When Whitney decided to toughen up her sound later on, she went the Janet route. ALSO a fact.
What you’re overlooking is that Janet’s catalog is legendary and she has three albums easily that will never be surpassed - Rhythm Nation, Control, and The Velvet Rope. I said Whitney wins off vocal talent. But strength of discography??? Janet wins that all day, every day.
First of all, regarding Aaliyah. You clearly weren’t around in the 90s at all and I’m tired of having to repeat shyt every thread because you revisionist contrarian ass nikkas who weren’t around during that time always feel compelled to speak on the shyt you don’t know and didn’t experience. How was Aaliyah not impactful when she put Timbaland and Missy on?? Both of them have said working with Aaliyah got them their big mainstream break. One In A Million was first. Then Ginuwine came. Then Missy’s solo album after that. That was when they blew up. Aaliyah started that chain reaction. They have BOTH said this. And don’t act like Aaliyah was some flop, either, when baby girl was going double platinum in a year, charting #1 singles off AirPlay alone, and was heralded as a game changer and Queen BEFORE she died. Aaliyah is also your favorite artist’s favorite artist. Everybody from Drake to J Cole to Beyoncé herself has acknowledged the impact Aaliyah has had on their careers and the music industry. FOH.
whitney didn't get boo'ed for making subpar music. she got boo'ed for making too much popcorn & she was viewed as a sellout.
if she was seen as subpar on top of that, she wouldn't have been able to bounce back from the criticism.
and her music isn't for you, nor is it for me. its for our grandmoms & maybe our moms. hell, as young as you sound, i'll say its for your great-grandmom.
people that listen to chit like Dionne warwick. of course Whitney's music isn't gonna be the rave with our crowd. we just marvel at her vocals and then keep it movin.
I'm not over-looking chit about janet. youre just in here stanning, while also being a fountain of misinformation.
and lol @ whitney going the janet route. those two singers were never remotely similar. you have no clue what youre talking about.
this is the problem. you weren't around, and I can tell you have no oldhead base around you, so you rely on google to piece chit together.
timbo & missy tend to embellish what Aaliyah did for them. she didn't put them on. they were already on. she basically hired them to work on the majority of her album - which is a big look, especially for them coming out of their previous situation. but she didn't put them ON. she gave them a good look, and in turn they saved Aaliyah's career as well, because she was in bad standing herself.
I never said Aaliyah was a flop on the first two albums. but she was never the queen of chit. she wasn't even top 2 in her own teen princess lane. she was an enhanced studio project that wouldn't even be on if she wasn't born into her record deal. and yea, that 3rd album was a flop until she died buddy. then they milked her death to the fullest, and fooled you youngns into thinking she was running the game.
and lol @ the bolded. drake's 1st album was the clipse. and you clearly got into music around the same time as him.
j,cole is another dweeb. you listing these corny names like I'm supposed to be impressed.
of course beyonce was influenced by Aaliyah, along with the other teen singers of the '90s - some of whom, you've prolly never even heard of. btw, beyonce was bigger than Aaliyah while Aaliyah was still living.
Janet is my girl and my childhood crush but Janet was definitely infuential in the dance and performance aspect of the game, and yes she is successful and influential no doubt BUT the #1 knock on Janet was that she was a product of having top notch production.
Whitney Houston is a once in a lifetime talent, who arguably got too big too fast. In fact, Whitney's success opened the door for Janet to even break through that next level. I think the thing most of you guys didn't live through the the 80's so you can't really say what Whitney meant even as far back as the early 80's. Anita Baker herself credited Whitney for helping to open doors for Black female artists.
Now I could understand the answers for Janet because her music definite skewed to a younger crowd and she did revolutionize the music video in her own way unique from Michaels.
You have got to be the biggest dumbass posting on this site. I generally respect everybody and overlook stupidity and but you, sir, are a dumbass. Cot damn.
THIS.
that's all I was saying.
but I don't understand how this dude @ghetto_dreams is in here arguing me to the death, but turns around and daps you for essentially saying the same thing ive been saying for the last two pages.![]()
Shut the fukk up. I dapped him because his argument makes sense. You, on the other hand, in here posting stupid shyt. Talking about “Velvet Rope isn’t a magnum opus” and other dumb shyt.
now youre in your feelings talking tough behind a keyboard. this is clearly the pinnacle for you. lol. you prolly don't even leave the house.
like I said, he posted the same chit I was saying. only difference is, I may have made a couple remarks that sounded off your stan signals and got you in your feelings. that's your personal problem tho.
go talk about lil yachty & lil pump. fakkit. stay in your lane.
You’ve already been proven wrong countless times, bytch.
Get the fukk on with your backwards, remedial ass. Can’t even fukkin read my posts correctly and steady posting.
I got proven wrong on what??
you dapped the guy who said the same thing I was saying the whole time.
theres no way around that L. just embrace it, or run away like the rest of the chumps of your ilk.
Janet is my girl and my childhood crush but Janet was definitely infuential in the dance and performance aspect of the game, and yes she is successful and influential no doubt BUT the #1 knock on Janet was that she was a product of having top notch production.

I never run away from shyt.
He didn’t say the same thing you said. In fact, he ended his post saying “Now I do understand the answers for Janet.” However, you in here acting like it’s absurd that people are even mentioning Janet alongside Whitney. That’s the difference in your arguments right there, retard.
But you might be right. It could be considered absurd, as Janet supersedes Whitney. Fact.
fukk on somewhere.
And as far as Aaliyah goes, you gotta shut the fukk up about this because again, you have no idea what went on. 1996-1997 was when they blew up mainstream wise. Aaliyah came first. Then Ginuwine. Then Missy’s album. That was when they blew up and that’s a fact. How could they have helped Aaliyah when she was coming off a multi platinum debut album and they were still underground? Cot damn.
This gonna be my last post to you because you’re clearly trying to be antagonistic on purpose. You don’t even read the shyt you’re posting.
I said all of that as well.
so basically, you dapped him because he said it nicely.
LOL. youre soft.
you googled the release dates.
yea, Aaliyah dropped first, but Ginuwine's album blew up first. also, Ginuwine had a deal over at Epic. he wasn't signed to Aaliyah's uncle. do ya googles.
I dapped him because he answered the question and explained why. Three pages and I’m still trying to figure out what your argument is besides shytting on Janet. All I’ve gotten is that Velvet Rope isn’t a magnum opus and you don’t know what new jack swing is. What else do you have to contribute to this thread, bytch??
And I don’t need to google shyt. But I’m still confused as to your point because your argument is incoherent as fukk.
